A pinging sound whenever i try to record something or rewind the cassette
Whenever i turn on my handycam to record anything or to rewind the cassette to see what is previously recorded, the handycam starts making a consistent pinging sound and shows a blinking eject icon. Neither can i record anything, nor can i see what i want to. I have tried replacing the cassette but even that was futile. Please suggest me a solution
It sounds like there's a problem with the tape loading mechanism. The first thing you should try is seeing if the camcorder will allow you to run a head cleaner through it (probably not the problem, but something everyone should do regularly, but most people don't).
If that's not the issue, then it's probably something that you can't fix yourself. You should have information in the box that tells you where to send it to for repair.
Good Luck.

Try removing the top cover & have a look to see what happens when you put the tape in & press play/rewind etc. Is the take up spool (right hand spool) turning properly or is there slack tape not being taken into the cassette? Are the heads spinning ? I think your problem is more likely to do with the tape not travelling smoothly around the tape path. Possibly the clutch gears need cleaned or the soft brakes may not be dis-engaging properly.
Hi,
one of your reel tables is not turning or you have an faulty capstanmotor.
Or.. the servochip inside need to be resoldered. You can check this put a cassette in the loader and while you push the playbutton give it a good bump on f.e. the table, when it's working you have a faulty on the mainboard
I was having the exact same problems, and I read a post on this website somewhere recommending that I just record a few seconds of video on a blank portion of tape and then the camera should start playing video normally again.
Your video heads are probably dirty. I have the same problem with mine too. If you buy a 8mm video cassette cleaner, it should work. Unless there is some other problem.
It was due to moisture condensation. I left the cassette compartment open and remove the battery for one hour approximately. then fixed the battery again and tried and it worked.
the flexwire of the camera at the bottom of
the mechanical assembly is already cut..it is need to repair that
flexwire or replace the mechanical assembly to sony service center...
there is an eror code displayed on the upper corner of tle lcd. that code will tell what is the problem with the unit.pls post the code for more info. anyway this needs the intervention of somebody who has some experience with camcorder repairs.
What error message is it giving to you ?? as this will be a good indication of fault. You have tried all the usual things to try by the sounds of things,
