Color off Red band arcs down through TV. other colors faded. If TV is turned off for a day color starts normal but goes wacky in about 15 min. TV is 5 years old.

You need to have the pins of your convergence IC's checked for ring cracking. That cooling-off period is probably just enough to bring the crack(s) back into contact with each other and as they heat up they separate. It doesn't sound like a IC or component failure, at least not yet. But if it's ring cracked that arcing that happens is placing stress on the Ic's and they could eventually fail... Good Luck Bill

Tv is now in faded black and white

Your HT Tansfer is giving low votage to the picture tube. Replace the HT Transformer(don't touch or go near it, it carries 11000 Volts!)....sodeep

I have a Polaroid 37" (flm3732) that makes a loud whineing noise that also sounds like an electrical arc for the first 15 min after turning on. The time period seems to be getting longer as the days go by....

Symptoms of a Defective or dying Power supplies on LCD TVs.
1. Light(s) on the front panel are behaving not normal example, blinking, amber color or not steady, fainting, etc.
2. TV not turning ON properly.
3. TV turns OFF by itself.
4. Needs to be unplug to many times to make it work.
5. Humming or high pitch noise heard through speakers or at the back of the TV.

Arc or hump on bottom left of tv and color is faded bad.

Your convergence Ic's have gone bad. Most likely a few small resistors with them. It's really not a job you should try and takle if you haven't done it before. Not a major deal for a svc co.

Seeing red !

I had a television that went to a bright shade of blue.A friends neighbor worked for sony television plant where the new tubes came down the assembly line.His job was to make sure tubes were working fine,if one color was dominant then his job was to smack the front center of the tube with a rubber mallot to fix the problem.He suggested i try that with my tube while the set was on.It worked and solved my blue problem.Apparently he explained,the gun connections in the tube came loose and to fix it was to smack it this caused the connection to reweld itself.For you I would use the palm of an open hand and smack the tube dead center with a good hard smack.Dont be afraid of breaking the glass because its very thick and strong.Give this a try.Hope it helps.Good luck!
