There are machines made just for that task such as the Magnavox DVD recorder. There is a VHS tape deck on one side and a DVD recorder on the other side. You can copy a VHS tape to a DVD and copy a DVD onto a VHS tape as well
You can use a dry or wet cleaning cassette for your VHS heads, this can help you to get a better image from your tapes but also check if the magnetic tape of your cassettes aren't too worn out.
ok cable sat wire goes into input of dvd-vcr input then coming out from the dvd vcr and into the moulator then a wire out to the tv now make sure your vcr is set to the right setting ...now you can record 1 cable..2.vcr dvd..3 modulator...4...tv make sure vcr is set to monitor
How old is the VHS tape? I've had success recording older movies, but the newer ones have encryption to prevent duplication of them. I've even tried playing them on another VCR and transmitting the signal with a wireless audio/video transmitter but unfortunately the encryption is still there. If you can copy the tape to another tape, then it may not have encryption. If that's the case, check you A/V inputs to see if you have them setup right.
VCR is set with blank tape..Bring up vcr control on TV with television set on Chanel #3, go to menu
Follows procedure for progamming date, time start, time finish, chanel and.speed and single recording.finally click on menu and turn vcr off. Vcr lights indicate set for taping,,.Does no start to tape at requested time and lights indication taping ready stays on ??????
sound like you have a dirty video head, try cleaning the head with some isopropyl alchol. if it does not fix your problem, then you will have a bad video head.
good luck
