Check the defrost heater located on the bottom of the coils. Short have a pretty solid short if using and ohm meter.

Not freezing enough

You might have ice building up on your evaporator coil. That ice serves as an insulator and prevents the internal freezer temps from going down to design parameters. The ice buildup is caused by the defrost mechanism not working - check the timer or the defrost heating element.

Hello if you have to defrost your evaporator coils every month then you problems are (1)defrost timer(2)defrost heater (3) blocked freezer drain or many;(1) check the defrost timmer so see if it is working the defrost time is from 15-25 min depending,And durning this defrost time you may hear the sound of ice melting on the heater a sine that the heater is working .(2) Blocked freezer drain,The water from the defrost cycle sitting in the drain pan,Is being picked up by the fan pulling it with the air back through the evaporator coil a second time freezing quickly ...

The freezer fills with water and overflows about once a week. The food is partially frozen and the ice is clear and wet. The fridge is cold and no problems but the freezer doesn't fully freeze and water...

your evaporator coil in the rear area behind the freezer back panel is frozen over with ice and the coil can no longer deliver cold air due to ice blocking the air flow from the evaporator fan, remove this rear panel, defrost it with a hair dryer, check the defrost heating coil for continuity, they go bad regularly,if not the heater coil under the evaporator coil,it may be the defrost timer in the refrigerator section of the unit that powers the defrost coil that needs replacement

Refrigerator is cold, freezer not freezing

Amana refrig have 2 main problems . 1 is the defrost bimetal ( 1" cylinder at the top right on the freezer coils with 2 wires ) and the other is a refrigerant leak where the copper tubing joins the aluminum tubing at the freezer coils ( evaporator coils ) . If your freezer fan is not working and you have frost on the freezer coils then replace the bimetal as this also controls the defrost heater ( defrost thermostat ) . If you have no frost on the coils ( for both checks , you will have to remove the inside rear freezer panel , maybe 12 screws ) , then a refrigerant leak has happened and the best solution would be to replace the refrig .

I have a fridge/freezer APM 6823, the freezer isn't freezing

There is a small fan that draws air across the condenser coils and evaporates water that accumulates from the self-defrost cycle.

Be sure the condenser coils (on the bottom of the refrigerator) are clean and that the small fan is working. The water is most likely from the self-defrost cycle that is not evaporating properly.

I have a strong suspicion that the fan is defective. Remove the back of the unit and see if it is running. And I can't overstate the importance of cleaning the coils. Dirty coils are the #1 cause of refrigerator inefficiency something as simple as cleaning them can make a world of difference in the efficiency of the unit.
