CD changer goes in and out on its own. Then it stays out.

I have no idea why the changer keeps moving in and out.  Then when it moves in and motor makes a strange sound and same when it moves out. Any idea what I can do to fix this?

Mine does the same thing and also the volume knob is all messed up. Very rarely does the knob do anything at all and when it does it only turns the volume up, whether i turn the knob up or down. The knob just comes right off too, no wires or metal contacts or anything. Any amateur way to fix this? I'm not exactly what you might call circuit board friendly. :P

That model is known to have bad solder joints around the transformer in the power supply. I would open it up and resolder all the terminals of the large transformer, with the unit unplugged ofcourse, and then check to see if it works.

You need to change the LARGE WHITE (about 1cm large) wire inside the Cd changer.... when this wire is damaged it does all of what you said....everything is fine with your cd changer just change the wire. This wire controls the movement of the CD Tray, The sensor etc, that's why it's keeps moving in and out cos it's damaged. it's easy to fix just ask a qualified person to do this. Bye ;)

I have 5 disc changer that will revolve but wont play disc just keep running.

What you hear running may be a fan, a motor that spins the CD, the motor that moves the head in & out, or the motor that turns the turntable.
I suspect on something that old, the motor that spins the CD may be worn out. Place 1 CD in position and make note of the exact position of the words on the CD, let the player go through all 5 positions and see if the CD is still in the exact position that it was when you started. If this is the problem there's usually no easy way to fix it.
If the turntable doesn't turn, then it's that motor or a possibly a belt that no longer works.

There is also the possibility that the read head is no longer moving in and out smoothly, you'll have to take the unit apart and re-grease the slides with light lithium grease.

The read head being dirty or too dusty is another possibility, but even less likely. When you get it apart, clean the read head with a cotton swab and rubbing alcohol, anything harsher might damage the components.

I get E-01 error of my cd changer

The fault is actually inside the CD changer, when one disc is selected the changer moves the gearing inside to slot from one CD to the other.
While this operation is happening the selection arm jams !!
Then giving an error at the radio display..

To fix the problem, disconnect the CD changer from the trunk of the car,
take off the top plastic slide cover,
with a small screwdriver slowly move the gearing so that the CD disc holder will move back to the load - unload position.

Pop out the CD holder.

Replace unit, reconnect the optic and power lead, switch on radio and the unit will work again,

grease the moving parts with light lubricant

Good Luck

I have a sony 3 disc changer mini hifi stereo system model lbt-zuxiod and its been working fine untill today i turn it on and it keeps flashing DEST ERROR how do i fix this problem

I do not have any experience on your type of hifi but i reckon dest error refers to "Destination error" the 3 disc changer has a default home position of the disc carousel that it goes to when first starting up. I would suggest that somthing is preventing the cd mechanism from getting there to it's home when it starts up. This could be from a cd or foreign object jam, broken motor( or worn motor) broken or dirty sensor that detects where the mechanism is or broken cable connecting the two.
The key to finding this out after you fix the jam, would be to note if the mechansism is travelling, whether it sounds forced or if it's not moving at all. this will tell you whether it's motor or sensor related.
As I said I don't have any experience on this one, perhaps someone more qualified could comment...
Good Luck!

Won't stay closed

even if the laser lense cant process the data being read it should not eject and just display disc error or no disc. That's how it normally does. anyway if is is different from yours, try cleaning the laser lense with cotton bud, dampen a bit with rubbing alcohol, then the other end to dry it. rub it in circular motion please and not too hard or excesiove force on it.

lubricate the spindle motor shaft if you can reach, not too much oil, the very thin type household use only. likewise the traverse mech. the mech is not the source of your problem but since you are lubricating the spindle motor then you might as well lubricate the rest of moving parts. try not to put oil in you platine table and other rotating parts like the rubber belts or you'll find another problem later.

Message 'no CD' always appears, but I can see the CD in proper position, but not spinning.

if you shut cd draw with no cd in, does the laser lens move up or down at all. if it does suspect dead laser pickup. it is very common for lasers to fail
