Help, we are on our 2nd Krups GVX1 grinder, and I am feeling like a moron! We thought the 1st was defective because it would not turn on, but now the 2nd one will not power on either! We have read through the instructions several times, made sure all components are in place, checked the power source, etc., etc. - NOTHING1 What am I doing wrong?
With the top sensor- I found with mine the pin was missing that actuated the top cover switch in th fill area right side you'll see a small pin hole. All I did was remove the side cover and jump out the switch via solder connection. The side cover has (4) click locks on the bottom that hold it on then it slides up and off. I know its a safety switch but it was more of a pain than a help.

Make sure that both the top cover and the ground coffee receptacle are firmly in place. If either one is not seated correctly, the grinder will not turn on. If this still doesn't solve, check the port in the main body from where the ground coffee is spewed into the receptacle; this can get clogged with ground coffee (especially at finer grinds), and when this happens, the grinder will (again) refuse to operate.

With the same problems as above - not working at all after being a very reliable grinder - I fixed it using a method I had used for sticking keys on computers. Many times these issues are caused by sticking switches. I flushed with alcohol the two switches located under the top hopper and above the holding bin. I also flushed the activation button on the front. It is important to shake as much of the alcohol out as you can, wipe down the alcohol and repeat until dry. The final step is to throroughly blow around all the crevices using canned air. Don't use air from a compressor or damage may result. Allow to dry about 5 minutes before trying. It worked for me.

I have the GVX1 also, and obviously am on this site due to same problem. Very disappointing as this was not a cheap appliance and I depended on the KRUPS name to make the purchase decision. I have tried it all, brushing every minute grain out, making sure all is tight, etc...the blue light comes on but 'no one's home.'
