Hello, I have a Panafax UF 885 fax machine. I have replaced the toner cartridge recently and the machine will not recognize it and reset itself. I have tried echanging the toner thinking it was defective. Unplugging did not work. My IT people have tried scrolling through all the menues to reset with no results. The message on the screen is "info code 45" which, when I looked it up in the manual says.."needs toner". Meanwhile faxes are comming in and my memeory is just about maxed out. I really hope you folks can help me!

Info code 45 really means Toner cartridge is not installed.Info code 41 is out of toner & code 43 is toner getting low. There are three connection points inside of the fax machine that tell the machine that a cartridge is installed. Open the cartridge door & remove the cartridge. Verify that the metal tabs on the right hand side above the drive gear stick out far enough to make contact with the cartridge. There should also be two wires that are located on the left hand side that also make contact with the cartridge. Try putting your used/empty cartridge in & see if your info code changes to a 41 or 43.If not, you may have a broken connection. I have found that some compatible cartridges for the panafaxes are missing metal tabs that make contact with the connectors. Compare a cartridge that worked to the one that doesn't to see if it's missing metal tabs. This is not an issue if you are using OEM.

Error 055 is a laser error. the laser is not spinning at the proper speed and may need replacement. There is another solution, where some ferrite cores are added around three cables to reduce electronic interference. Best call a local technician for further diagnosis.
Open the toner door and remove the cartridge
Turn the machine off
Open the document feeder by pulling straight up
While turning the machine back on, hold down the pointed switch actuator closest to the small glass
Close the document feeder..display should read "RAM INITIALIZE"
Scroll down to "SHIPMENT SET"
Press "2" for "NO"
Wait for the machine to reboot (could take 5 mins)
Some times a bad toner cartridge will cause this.
If this does not work, you have a bad Main PC Board. Uneconomical to repair.
