HP DesignJet 3800cp InkJet Printer Logo

Question about HP DesignJet 3800cp InkJet Printer

1 Answer

Printer Does Not Print.

I just bought this Printer and am in the process of setting it up. I install the drivers that come with it. In the Select Printer option i choose HP Design jet 3000cp (because 3800cp is not listed). The link below is a screen capture of the steps i am doing to install. http://www.gcsclothing.com/Install-Cap.rtf Well after i install the driver i go to print (i have the printer connected to my laptop using a parallel cable.) When i go to test print/photoshop print/MS Office Print it all does the same thing. It looks like it is going to print, a print window pops up and has a picture of my printer printing and then the little print icon appears on the task bar. Also at this time the printer status changes to receiving. Then all of a sudden the window and the icon disappear and the printer status goes back to ready and does nothing. I have tried it on two different computers but i keep getting the same result. What am i missing.

both computers were running Windows xp (one Home edition and one pro edition). oh and the screen shots were saved onto wordpad.

  • George Villalobos May 23, 2007

Here is the file i had from above.. i switched it to an html page.
    http://gcsclothing.com/Files/3800.html

on the printer properties it is clicked to LPT and in the device manager it is on the list.

Would using a parallel to usb do anything?

What are the operating systems of the computers? Have you checked that the printer is supported by these operating systems? There appear to be issues with Vista computers for driver for many peripherals Suggest you contact HP rethis one By the way your Screen shot that mode is it? I dont seem to be able to open it with the regular programs.

Screenshots are image files - usually JPEG
Word pad is a text editor not an image editor

I notice you say you have connected by parallel cable.
In fact printers these days are universally USB and the XP will look for a USB connection
So check where your printer driver is directed -
    Parallel will be LPT1
    USB will be printer USB
Go to Start Printers faxes right click printer and then click properties to check the driver
Go to Start /Control Panel/system/Device Manager look ay LPT and the run down the USB connection to to USB printer connexion.

looks like you are doing it right- but there is perhaps a subtle difference perhaps between the correct driver and the alternative you have selected
So it would seem the Hp are at fault.
Check their website for river downloads and also raise this query with their Tech Support

Canon ir3300 pc to print in xerox print processing but not pr

If you are experiencing issues with your Canon IR3300 printer when trying to print in Xerox print processing mode, but it's working fine in regular print mode, there could be a few possible causes. Here are a few things you can check:
  1. Check the printer driver: Make sure that the correct printer driver is installed and that it is compatible with the Xerox print processing software. If the driver is not compatible, the printer may not function properly in Xerox print processing mode.
  2. Check the network connection: Make sure that the printer is properly connected to the network and that it can communicate with the Xerox print processing software.
  3. Check the print settings: Make sure that the print settings are correctly configured for Xerox print processing mode. This includes the resolution, color mode, paper size, etc.
  4. Check the Xerox software: Make sure that the Xerox software is compatible with your computer's operating system and that it is properly installed and configured.
  5. Check the firmware: check if your printer's firmware is up to date.
  6. Check the paper size and tray: Make sure that the paper size and tray are correctly configured for Xerox print processing mode.

Lexmark e340 pcl xl error

Step 1: Step One
Windows 7 solution - Please note this solution will require Admin rights.
Firstly go to the Start Menu, type MMC and press enter to run the Microsoft Management Console
Step 2: Step Two

From the MMC, select File, Add/Remove snap-in
Step 3: Step Three

In the left pane, select Print Management and click Add

Immediately after clicking Add on the box above, the box labelled Specify Print Server will appear. As you are removing drivers from your local PC, simply click on Add The Local Print Server.
This will place your PC name in the box labelled Print Servers directly below. At this point, press Finish.
Step 5: Step Five

Confirming that the right pane of the Add/remove Snap-ins shows Print Management, press OK to return to the main MMC screen.
Step 6: Step Six

This next step takes for granted you have already uninstalled the printer(s) in question from Devices and Printers.
With the MMC console now open with the snap-in installed, simply in the left pane click down from Print Management, Print Servers, Your PC Name, Drivers.
At this point you will be presented with a list of current drivers installed on your PC.
Step 7: Step Seven

To actually uninstall the printer driver(s), simply right click on the driver in question from the right side pane and choose Remove Driver Package. If you are faced with a message saying 'the following driver cannot be deleted' due to be referencing a print server, then simply cancel off the message, right click on the driver again and ensure Set Driver Isolation is set to Isolated. Usually this is set to Shared if installed centralled. Once this is done attempt to delete again.
If the driver has at any time been replaced or upgraded there may be more than one variant of the driver installed, so repeat the process until all the required drivers are removed.
Step 8: Step Eight

Once all drivers are removed, close the MMC. Close all other programs open and reboot the PC to complete the process.
In the end out of over 30 PCs with this driver installed, all of them continued to work with the exception of a couple. The PCs are all identically installed which eliminated a lots of possible issues. So, driver removed, PC rebooted and driver reinstalled. No more complaints on this one

This may help you,

I have a Xerox 7655 printer and I am trying to use the direct print tabs. After downloading the template and following the instructions exactly, they are printing upside down and backwards. Can someone...

You may need to change the driver. I have seen different issues with machins printing tabs, that changing the print driver will solve. Most of the tab issues are when the driver is a PCL 5 or PCL 6 driver. Switching to a PS driver frequently helps resolve those issues.
The newest drivers would be located on Xerox.com. Go to the home page, select Drivers and downloads, then enter your model number in the search box, and then select downloads and drivers again and select the newest PS driver and install that. I am pretty sure a new fresh PS driver will resolve your problem.
I am including the setup procedure below, I assume this it the process you followed.
Try a new driver. If that doesn't resolve it, possibly the machine firmware itself will need to be updated to the newest version.

The template is set up to provide centered text in the available tab printing area at each position.
At each printing position click to highlight all the text visible on the sheet. Type in the wording you desire and proceed to the next sheet.
When printing the file ignore the warning about margins.
At The Printer:
1) Load the tabs long edge feed with the smooth edge feeding into the machine. The first tab will be on top towards the front of the printer.
2) Set the paper type to [Pre-cut tabs (106-176gsm).
3) Set the number in sequence using the [up/down] arrows for the number of tabs in the set.
4) Set the paper size to [9x11].
5) Select [Confirm].
At The Workstation:
1) Select [File], [Print] and select your printer from the [Printer Name] drop down.
2) Select the [Pages] radio button and set the page range to 2-6.
3) Select the [Paper/Output] tab.
4) Select the [Select Paper] button.
5) Select [Pre-cut tabs] from the [Type] drop down.
6) Set the number in sequence using the [up/down] arrows for the number of tabs in the set.
7) Select the [Layout/Watermark] tab.
8) Select [Fit to New Paper size] and select [9x11] from the drop down.
9) Select [Rotated Landscape] from the [Image orientation] drop down.
10) Select [Ok] twice to print the job.

My printer will not print from the computer

its a printer driver issue for me..

I think you need to reinstall your printer driver again..
first you need to uninstall existing printer driver ..and restart your computer ...and then reinstall you printer driver..

why you need to reinstall?

because the printing application for the printer has been corrupt or missing..only the copy and scan application is running properly..

that's why it only scan and copy..but not print some document..

thanks for using FIXYA...
