OfficeJet 7310 FAX issue

I gots me a weird problem. Everytime I try to fax something on my HP OfficeJet 7310 All-in-one. I get a power failure, and it tells me to reset my printer. If i life the lid, I notice that the scanner light is only half way through the page and stuck on, until i turn off the power. However, using the copy function, it works just fine. I've done a full reset to factory defaults with still no luck. Any help?

Did anything happen prior to the issue? It almost sounds as if the DC controller (main board) has gone bad. What happens if you try to make a copy on it?

I'm sorry you didn't care for my resolution. But if it worked fine prior to a power failure and now it's not working, that's most likely the problem.

If you found a different solution that worked, please share it; it would be a beneficial to all of us!

HP office jet 7310 all in one. when trying to fax it says scanner failure. Turn off power and restart. This accomplishes nothing. Suggestions?

This means that there is an internal failure of some kind (e.g. the scanner is stuck). Be sure that the shipping lock has been removed and try again. HP is very good about support, try contacting them through their website or by phone.

Good Luck!

Pull the power cord... if it does the same thing after plugging it back in it is probably toast.

Error

You should be able to send out a fax on there without replacing the cartridge.

Follow the steps below to perform a fax diagnostics test. 1. Set up the all-in-one for faxing according to the setup instructions found in the product's User's Guide. 2. Make sure you have inserted the print cartridges and loaded paper before starting the test. 3. Press Setup, 6, and then 6. This displays the Tools menu and then select Run Fax Test. The HP all-in-one displays the status of the test on the color graphics display and prints a report. 4. Review the report. * If the test passes and you are still having problems faxing, check the fax settings listed in the report to verify the settings are correct. A blank or incorrect fax setting can cause faxing problems. * If the test fails, review the report for more information on how to fix any problems found. 5. After you pick up the fax report from the all-in-one, press OK. Then turn the printer off, and then on again. If necessary, resolve any problems found and rerun the test. If the test passes and you are still having problems faxing, check the fax settings listed in the report to verify the settings are correct. A blank or incorrect fax setting can cause faxing problems.
