Question about Casio Exilim EX-S500 Digital Camera
I got my camera nearly 1 year, without any trouble. Today I took the cam with me to make some pictures. When I started the cam up, the lens stretched out as usual. Then I started to zoom in, and made some pictures. After this, I zoomed out but this failed. Then I wanted to shut down the cam, but the lens did not retract.
Now, whenever I push the powerbutton, the LCd is lit, I hear in a fraction of a second the engine for the lens is working, but nothing happens really, and at the end, I hear a beep, and power is shut down. But,.. the lens still didn\'t retract.
Anyone an idea what\'s going on, and more important : how to get this cam working again (retracting the lens).
P.S. Maybe important to mention : I did not shook the cam, nor did it bounce to something. I just kept it all the time in my hands.
Thank you for your kind answer, but I got the cam fixed, while it was still under guarantee. They did a good repair, but switched a bit more worn out cover from a cam of someone else with mine. This made me a bit angry, but I kept in mind that the most important thing was that the cam did work again.

Nearly one year!
Then be quick and send it back under warranty - waste no time.

Well now E-bay - Oh dear.
Take the battery out
Leave the cam for a few hour to discharge it self.
what sort of battery type is it- will it charge through a standard charger?
There could be an issue here the battery not fully charging bacause of
A. battery faulty
B. Charger faulty
C. fault in camera.
More than that I can suggest more

And I thought it might be a minor problem. Is it possible that the battery went bad ? (It\'s just a few hours ago that I ran into this problem)
I can find some lens-problems overhere and with google, but not this specific one of mine. I just hate the idea of sending my cam for several weeks, while tomorrow my son is having his birthday. (So I hope this lens-problem is not serious and there\'s a quick-fix around)
[UPDATE]
Battery fully charged. When pressing powerbutton, same happens. Another detail I just noticed : when I charge the cam through the USB-cradle, and push the camera-powerbutton (the one at the cam), the powerLED in the USB-cradle will shut down. Even when it\'s loading the battery...
