Question about Dell 1710n Laser Printer

Change Image Drum light blinking

Earlier in the week our image drum light started blinking. Yesterday, the new drum arrived, and we changed it. The printer started printing jobs again but the light was still blinking. This morning it stopped printing again. They pulled out the drum to look at it and put it back in--it started printing again, but the light is still blinking. Tried turning it off and back on. Sometimes that's fixed quirks for me. No go. Has anyone seen this before? I have a spare drum, I ordered two at once, but I'd hate to throw that one in too and not have solved the problem.

You have to reset the drum counter. Leave the front cover open Press and hold the "cancel" button until all the lights flash in sequence Close the front cover You should be good fro another 30 - 40 thousand copies. Hope it helps Ed

How do I change the drum on a bizhub 3510

First ensure fax line and and network cable is disconnected (If no FAX or network dont worry) dont want any print jobs or faxs arriving before you run Developer and drum checks after replaceing both.. Second go to the service mode and clear the drum and developer counters touch end then power off the using main power switch left hand side rear. You will be replacing both do not just replace the drum. Ensure your drum comes with what is called a drum cleaning blade, along with your developer. Secondly open the right side door and remove the Image unit. Dissamabley the image unit four silver screws two per side. Then pull each side apart from the base and lift up. T change developer remove the 3 alummin screws fro the base top. Then dump the old developer DO NOT USE A VACUUM CLEANER THE STATIC ELECTRICITY WILL DESTROY THE SENSOR AT THE BOTTOM OF THE DEVELOPER UNIT!!!!!!!!!! Turn the gears on the side so that large roller that runs along th\e front of the developer unit turns downward. keep turing it unit all of the old developer is out. DO NOT USE WATER OR WET RAGS to cleanup use a brush. Add your new developer. One Bag only. Reassamable. Now for the Drum. Remove both side covers one side has small plasitic been so be careful. Reove drum remove three screws to remove old cleaning blade this section you can use a vacuum clean turn the gears to get the hold section clean. install the new cleaning blade and drum DO NOT TOUCH THE DRUM use only the side gears. Replace the SCTRON Grid and Charge Corona UNIT. REassaembly Image Unit. Then POwer up the machine, Enter service mode and run Fuction F8. Do not may copies or prints before this or you will have to buy new developer again.

IF YOU REALLY WANT TO DO THIS?????? HAVE SERVICE TECH COME OUT AND DO THIS

The machine i have is KONICA MINOLTA DI251OF.The light for the drum unit is on even after the drum been change. How can i get the light to turnoff

Was the developer also changed? Because who ever change the drum did it wrong. The first thing you do before you remove the old drum is cleared the drum counter, seems that was not done now the copier thinks the new drum is old and is applying the required voltages for a old drum even though the drum is new will have image problems and codes soon. Recommend you get a new drum, cleaning blade, and developer and replace them all their are normally done at the same time, because in a few week the developer will the go and so drum unit will show up a again. make sure you clear the counters first then install the parts and make sure you run the required F8 in service mode. Utility/Counter, Details then. stop00 stop01 for service mode. Under Function for F8 and counter for clearing developer drum image section which should be done after every forth drum the developer unit that hoses the drum and developer.

Service required Parts inside your printer are at the end of their service life. See your printer documentation.

You don't give the brand or model of printer so I can't be very specific, but this is a message that many printers display as a function of time. Usually it means that the image drum or fuser (or both) need to be replaced.

The image drum is what picks up the toner and transfers it onto the paper. In some printers the image drum and toner cartridge are in one package, and when you change the toner you get a new drum as well. In others it's a piece you replace separately. With age and use, the photoelectric coating of the image drum can wear, leading to poor printing. The printer keeps track of how long it's been, and tells you when it's time to change the drum.

The fuser is what heats the toner so it can properly bond to the paper, and can lead to smudged prints or print that rubs off when it doesn't heat properly. Again, many printers go by the amount of service time to tell you when to change it.

If you don't have the manual for your printer, you can certainly find it for downloading on the manufacturer's website. They also have help available where you can find more information about errors and solutions. Once you find out which part(s) the printer is saying you need, you can find the price and replacement procedures online. Then decide whether it's cost-effective to repair your printer or to look for a new one. Sometimes, with new models and sales, you can get a better printer new for less than the cost of the repair.

Hi, we have the hp color laserjet 2840 series and we are getting a supply error (10.1004). The picture shows that there is a problem with our imaging drum. We bought a brand new imagind drum and it is...

Reseat the toner cartridge. Turn the printer off, and then back on again. You may want to try a new cartridge, but if that does not eliminate the error, call your HP support line. If the imaging-drum light is still blinking but the Attention light is not on, you must replace the imaging drum before the printer can continue printing. The imaging-drum light might be blinking by itself or at the same time another light is on or blinking. If another light is also on or blinking, turn the imaging-drum light off in the simulator and turn the other light on or blinking to isolate the condition. The printer has determined that it cannot read or write to the e-label on the imaging drum.Reseat the imaging drum, and then power cycle the printer. If this does not work, replace the imaging drum. If the imaging drum light is still blinking but the Attention light is not on, turn the printer off, and then back on. If the problem persists, replace the imaging drum E-label reader. The imaging-drum light might be blinking by itself or at the same time another light is on or blinking. If another light is also on or blinking, turn the imaging-drum light off in the simulator and turn the other light on or blinking to isolate the condition.

If Hope that this helps,, let me know. If this helps or solves the issue, please rate it and give a testimonial for my response. Thanks,Joe

Why does the drum light blink on my brother hl-2140

The blinking indicates that the drum unit is near the end of it's life. It will shut down soon and you will lose the ability to print until it is changed or reset.
To reset the drum counter. Press and hold down the white button (shown as blue in the image below) for about 4 seconds until all the LEDs light up. Once all 4 LEDs are lit, release the button.

Changing Drum

The drum is where the image is applied before being transfer to the paper. If the drum is wearing down the image will become poor. Changing the drum unit will make the image like new. So, yes you can run the drum catridge until you get a poor print out.
