SONY PCG-GR315 graphic card

This is a correction of a notebook code i send in a previous message (GR315, not GR15). And i will to add that I have taken apart the graphic video card. Here i repeat what s the problem: LCD screen image appear doubled and shadowed, but on a external screen appear to be normal. Questions are: Graphic card is defective? Do i repair it or (best) replace it? Where can i find a replacement card? Thanks for your help.

If it appears fine on an external monitor, it seems to me that the problem is most likely in the laptop's LCD panel rather than the video card. I did a google search and turned up exactly zero results regarding the SONY PCG-GR315 Are you sure you got that model number right? In any case, chances are your laptop's video device is not upgradeable. My advice is to go to a repair center or what-have-you and find out if it's the card or the panel; panels can be replaced more often than other integrated hardware.

My laptop does not complete the whole screen, the screen is half, i have installed drivers but it has persisted

About Graphics and Video Card Drivers: Graphics and video Card Drivers serve as an interpreter between your Windows operating system and the Graphics and Video Card. In other words, these Drivers allow Windows to communicate with the Graphics and Video Card installed on your computer.
Most of the Graphics and Video Card Driver errors occur when the required Driver is missing, corrupt, or outdated.
Common Graphics and Video Card Driver problems: In case of a Graphics and Video Card Driver related error, your operating system will not be able to access or make best use of the functionality of your graphics or video card.

Below are the four most common Driver error codes and their meaning:

Error 1 - Reinstall the drivers for this device. (Code 18)
Meaning - The required driver is configured incorrectly or outdated.
Error 2 - This device is not configured correctly. (Code 1)
Meaning - The required driver is configured incorrectly or is missing.
Error 3 - The drivers for this device are not installed. (Code 28)
Meaning - The required driver is not installed on your computer.
Error 4 - This device cannot start. (Code 10)
Meaning - Usually, this error means that the required driver is outdated.
How do I fix Graphics and Video Card Driver problems?

Roll back to the previously installed Driver

Device Manager, an inbuilt utility in Windows, allows you to troubleshoot common driver-related errors. For instance, you may sometimes start experiencing driver related problems after you have updated it. To resolve the issue, you can roll back to a previously installed driver. To do this in Windows 7/Vista, perform the following steps:
  1. - Open the Control Panel window and double-click Device Manager
  2. - Double-click Display Adapters to view all devices under it
  3. - Double-click the device that is causing the problem
  4. - Click the Driver tab
  5. - Click the Roll Back Driver button and follow the onscreen instructions

Scan your computer using a Driver Update Tool

While Windows does provide an interface through which users can fix driver-related errors, the fact is that all driver-related issues cannot be resolved efficiently via Device Manager. Another fact is that resolving driver issues manually is a tedious affair. Also, you need to be proficient with Windows to carry out such a task.
On the other hand, driver management tools present no such problems. With just a click of the mouse, a driver management program scans your entire computer, identifies all installed hardware devices, and updates drivers for the identified devices

I upgrade my sony vaio pcg-k35 to vista but the screen does not fit the screen what graphic or video driver do i use pls.. help me with my problem.. ihave downloaded all the drivers for vista compatability...

go to the following website, scroll down and download mobility modder. http://www.driverheaven.net/modtool.php you will also need to download the lates catalyst software from ati don't worry that it isn't for your graphics card because mobility modder will change the files. finally follow all the instructions on the dh modder webpage where you downloaded it from and you can't go wrong. i used to have a sony vaio and i couldn't beleive how sony supports their customers after sale. they haven't and probably never will release a driver for these graphics cards. Shame on Sony!

Ati video driver

You're ATI video card has software called VPU recovery. You can shut that off in you're display properties. Suggest you upgrade you're current display drivers. If you are running Windows XP any version, than click on the link below & download the latest driver combo for you're notebook. Creat a folder on you're desktop & save the download into that folder.
After the download is complete, open add/remove programs & uninstall the older driver software. (Do not restart you're notebook)! Install the new driver combo. Than restart you're notebook.
ATI mobility radeon driver link. Choose the correct card.

No audio device on notebook

Cable3,

Sounds like you indeed have a problem with an audio hardware driver. Presumably the 'Audio Device on High Definition Bus' is the system detecting a device it doesn't have a driver installed for.

First question - was the sound working previously? If so, did you recently install any type of audio software not related to the sound device itself?

Please provide the exact model number of the VAIO notebook and we can point you to the correct driver and try that for starters.

Sony Vaio game lag only using fraction of graphics card

Not quiet sure what you mean by its only using a fraction of your graphics card?

If you go in to device manager it will tell you what graphics card you have.

What game is it you are trying to play?

If it is lagging then it suggest that your card isnt powerfull enough to cope with the game.

Have you tried dropping the display settings in the game to see if that helps?

Graphic card on sony pcg-gr15

There is no replacement for this as the graphics controller is onboard, as in built into the motherboard and not a seperate dedicated graphics card. You can try updating the driver but i would firstly go to my computer>right click>properties>hardware tab>device manager>click '+' sign on display adapters, select the adapter and right click and select uninstall. Restart pc and the graphics driver will be reinstalled. If no change, then it could be that the lcd or the back lighting is faulty and requires a qualified repairer.
