I purchased a dvd recorder in feb, this year. i got it from the internet, and i can't remember what company i bought it with, i have lost data on my computer, due to having to re install aol. it is under guarantee, but i don't know if daewoo would mend it for me. when you put a disc in the player it switches off automatically. it won't play the disc. i have tried numerous discs, they are all the same. it was a brand new dvd player, not used.
SOURCE: player says loading and then says no disc!
first try to clean the lens as if its not played very much a film of dust or grease ect ect can be on the lens. If that dosent work then your gonna have to clean the lens maually If you wanna take apart the unit you can then very carefully clean the little lens in slow circular motion BUT BE CAREFULL. if that dosent work the palyer may have went out of alighnment or the laser assy is defective. Good Luck

SOURCE: No disc when disc is inside?
open the cover of the unit, but be sure that it is unplugged. try cleaning the lens with a soft dry cotton swab. donot put any cleaning liquid on it. just dry cotton swab. also put the nozzle of the duster on the lower part of the lens assembly to remove the accumulated dust. if its still doesnt work have it check by a qualified service technician. good luck!

SOURCE: dvd "unknown disc" message coming up
Have you tryed to use a lens cleaning disc yet. The laser lens on these players and recorders alike, must have the lens cleaned every oince in awhile. If that does not help, most likly you have a bad laser pickup assembly and you will need to replace the plaer as to have that repaiered, you could buy a new unit. Good Luck

SOURCE: Daewoo DVRS05 Recorded DVD won't play in OTHER DVD players
my suggestion from reading other forums is that these players sometimes have problems finalizing the disc.. you could try making a copy of the disc in a computer to see if this fixes the promlem or maybe media these use dvd+r and has a lot of compatibility issues with dvd players.

SOURCE: dvd player says "no disc"
Could a foreign object have been inserted into the tray? I have seen labels peel off and stick inside the mechanism, preventing it from reading the DVD. Also try unplugging it from the wall, let it sit for a few minutes (for the logic circuits to reset) then plug back in. Just turning it off does not reset the logic...
