My Sony (mfg November 2002) JUST started this about 2 weeks ago. Comes on normally, then after about 25 seconds it flashes light green and shuts itself off. I'm getting 8 blinks from the standby light. I'm wondering if this is an HV DC Block failure, or if it is the dreaded "flicker problem." TV has worked great until 2 weeks ago...any ideas for self repair???
Thanks
According to service manual, 8 blinks is a high-voltage error. A link to the manual and a how-to guide for retrace lines is here:

For the last week my TV has been going to a black screen for 10 seconds or so then the picture returns. It has been continual. Last night it stopped going to black screen, but now the standby light flashes 5 consecutive times and the color went haywire. A lot of red and everything that is suppose to be black is green.
I did a soft and hard reset with no success. What's wrong and is it worth fixing? Bought new in November 2002.
