No sound ? Make sure the audio input cable is connected to the music center FIXED outputs, the black connector is fully seated in the music center SYSTEM CONTROL 1 jack, and the multi-pin connector is firmly seated in the Acoustimass module jack. ? Turn the music center off for ten seconds, then on again, to reestablish communication between the music center and the speakers. ? Check the connections for any external components. Make sure to select the correct source for the desired input. ? Check the speaker connections. ? Be sure the CD is placed correctly, label-side up, in the music center, and the cover is closed. ? Increase the volume. ? Check to see if MUTE is lit in the display. Press the MUTE button on the remote to unmute the sound. ? Disconnect any headphones. ? Connect the FM and AM antennas , and last but not least. Make sure there is power going to the remote speakers or the unit will not communicate with them. Good Luck

SOURCE: Bose lifestyle 12 music center display inop

My display has not been working for years. Replaced c17 cap wich was 33uF 63 volts on lower pcb board( only one on system) . Old cap was good so this was not the problem. Replaced c16 wich was 100uF 25 volts with a 100uF 63volts. Display works, old cap read low. Both c17, and c16 are located on the lower left hand corner of the larger pcb looking from the front of the unit. Hope this helps.

SOURCE: Bose Lifestyle 48 System play's dvd in black & white only

Your s-video cable at the back of your media center is loose. This will cause black and white internal video and is known to fall out or just become loose from minor movement. (it's the nature of s-video cables) This should solve your problem. This is the s-video cable that connects to the VS2 and media center.
If this doesn't solve the problem (I'd be surprised), just reset it by unplugging the DC power cable at the side of the VS-2 for about 30+ seconds and plug it back in..

SOURCE: Want to connect non-bose speakers to a bose lifestyle system

this is possible, however not a very good idea.
Bose speakers are designed a little different than other brand speakers, the Equalizer built into the bose system will probably not sound amazing when you hook up your other speakers. Are you looking for more bass? cleaner highs?

if you want more bass, you could try doubling up your subs, if you want cleaner highs you could buy Bose Jewel Cube Speakers (purchased from a Bose Built-Invisible Dealer

How do we connect the Bose Lifestyle Surround Sound System to a Samsung television? When we have tried there is no sound, but when we put in a CD into the music unit it does work. Any thoughts?

Go to your TV's settings and change your audio output from TV speakers to Auxillary, or whatever port you have it connected to. It should be under the Sounds tab.

Not good surround sound Is the bose lifestyle 5 support 5.1 surround sound?

The Bose Lifestyle 5 is not a 5.1 surround sound system. It is a 2.1 sound system, meaning it is stereo with a subwoofer/bass unit. Having two speakers that can be angled in different directions, the Bose Lifestyle 5 employs Bose direct/reflecting technology, providing greater audio presence. Still, it is definitely not a surround sound system.

When watching a DVD, the surround sound plays all background music but the actors voices are not heard - can hear music and voices in 2 speaker only - TV programs play in 2, 3, and 5 speaker mode.

If there is nothing at all from the center channel while watching a DVD, first try resetting the system (unplug the power cord from the sub, and the DC power cord from the media center for 30+ seconds) If a reset doesn't help this, run the "adaptIQ" setup disc again. Honestly, this is a very odd problem for that system to have. (especially since we know the center speaker works for other sources) I hope this helps.

Can i use my lifestyle 5 to other cd player?

Yes. But you need your Model 5 music center connected. Just like any receiver. -Without the main LS head unit, this will not be able to turn on.
