Getting search randomly

When i am playing my dvd's, it goes on the search functionality and fast forwards automatically. I am not sure what to do here. Thanks Junkie

that is what i initially thought. then i removed the remote from the living room and it still does it. we have never used the controls on the system so not sure if that is possible.

Just to clarify the symptoms.
We put the movie on and it plays for some time. Then the search appears on the tv and it skips to the next chapter. sometimes,it keeps skipping again and again and again.

It happens for many dvds that i have. So i have a unusual situation.

Have done alot of these dvds and havnt seen this fault which would make me think you have jammed button either on main unit or more than likely on remote.try this and see how you get on,.

Just buy a replacement remote for it. You can only do the most basic controls without one.

How do you program into the dvd that you want it to fast forward quickly? There is a way but am not sure how it is done.

You don't, you just press the FORWARD button on remote during DVD playback to 'fast forward' (pressing this button a second time during playback increases forward scan speed). The forward and reverse buttons have 'SLOW/SEARCH' printed above them on the remote. The other buttons next to them are the PREV/NEXT buttons (SKIP/INDEX).

DVD playback speed/skip/search is mostly a manual user function; it cannot be auto set.

Hi, I am seeking the region free code for a Samsung DVD-D530? Thanks!

I tried the above steps, but each time when restarting the DVD player, it said 'reset' and asked for the language to be selected again. Pressing the "Fast Forward Fast Rewind Fast Forward Up Down" sequence caused the player to lock up and require powering off at the wall.
I found on another web site that there are different initial sequences. Once I use the one for Region 2, it worked fine.

I found the instructions below on another web site, but it worked for me...

Make sure there is no disc in the player.
Turn on the player (you can use remote control or front panel, it doesn't matter)
Wait for "No Disc" message to appear on the TV screen.
Press the Repeat button on remote (plain, not A-B).
Press the correct sequence of buttons of remote according to the original region code of your player (it's on the sticker on the back panel of the player). FF = fast forward, FR = fast rewind.

Region 2 players: FF, FR, FF, UP, DOWN
Region 3 players: FF, PLAY, FR, UP, LEFT
Region 4 players: FR, PLAY, DOWN, DOWN, RIGHT
Region 5 players: FF, UP, DOWN, STOP, RIGHT
Region 6 players: LEFT, RIGHT, RIGHT, PLAY, LEFT

If you pressed the correct sequence, a small white number 0 will appear somewhere on the top right of the screen. The white number 0 of the same font and size as the "No Disc" message, so don't confuse with the red "not allowed" sign that would appear when you press a function that's not available.
Turn the player off and on again, then you can pop in a DVD of any region and watch immediately.

The VCR shuts off after just a few seconds of playing or rewinding or fast forwarding. The tape goes in, and when you push play (or any direction), the unit will try and play it and then it will shut the...

There is a part that is called an idler wheel assembly that is critical for play, rewind, and fast forward, and may have stopped working. The second possibility is that the drive belt that runs the idler assembly has broken or come off.

Model c500. How do I change region?

Found this on the web some time ago. Samsung C500 DVD player. Use the following steps to make this player region free;
1. Start the DVD with no disc and use the remote;
2. Click the Repeat (not the Repeat A/B) button located far left of the remote.
3. Click the Fast Rewind button <<
4. Click the Next Chapter button >>'
5. Click the Fast Forward button >>
6. Click the Prev Chapter button '<<
7. Click the Play button >
8. Once the grid selections appear, use the arrow buttons to select/highlight "9" for region free. Make sure to select "save and exit" as shown below to screen on your television. The player will shut-off automatically. Restart and play with any DVDs.

Need Remote Codes

The manual on Page 10 says that with these modes (DVD,CD,MD,CDR,HDD) on the Remote you can control an Onkyo DVD player and CD/MD/CDR/HDD player/recorder.

For DVD, on page 12, it says to just push the DVD button (top right) and the following buttons will functions as stated.

ON/STANDBY button
This button sets the DVD player to On or Standby.

Number buttons
These buttons are used to enter title, chapter, and
track numbers and to enter times for locating specific
points in time.

DISC +/– button
This button selects discs on a DVD changer.

TOP MENU button
This button is used to select a DVD’s top menu.

Arrow [UP]/[DOWN]/[LEFT]/[RIGHT] & ENTER buttons
These buttons are used to navigate DVD menus and
the DVD player’s onscreen setup menus.

RETURN button
This button is used to exit the DVD player’s
onscreen setup menu and to restart menu playback.

Playback buttons
From left to right: Pause, Play, Stop, Fast Reverse,
Fast Forward, Previous, and Next.

SUBTITLE button
This button is used to select subtitles.

AUDIO button
This button selects foreign language soundtracks
