Dell Latitude D420 keyboard replaced, most number keys still not working

I'm not sure the d420 has a jumper for BIOS reset on the motherboard. I think you will need to remove the small CMOS battery under the keyboard (for around 15 minutes) to reset the BIOS password and settings.

Need more info, Norman.

The easiest solution would be to replace both items, go to www.ebay.com Type make and model of laptop, refine search to CD/DVD drive and the same for battery. Then you can attempt a repair or reload the operational system from scratch.

There is one test to determine if it is the screen causing the problem or maybe the lcd converter.
Plug an external monitor into your laptop and see if the picture is good...if it is then replace the lcd screen.
If there is still no picture then the problem is probably the lcd inverter needs replacement

did u find the power on button on the laptop...just on top of the keyboard....
do u get any power indicator on the laptop....?

You cant just fit any ole keyboard to any laptop. I suggest contacting Dell, and look for replacement parts. Most of Dells' stuff is propietary
