Hi, we have about a 5 year old Samsung TXN3275HF 32' HDTV 1080i. The other day while t.v. was on - picture was perfect -- suddenly the picture flashed - losing all green and yellow hues. I turned the t.v. off for about 10-15 minutes, turned it back on and all was normal - only for another 15 minutes. Same scenario - turned it off, let it cool, back on - all ok. This continued throughout the day until eventually, no greens/yellows ever came back.
When I accessed the color panel to adjust colors, greens/yellows are not even an option - only reds/purple. The entire picture has an all over purple hue. When I use it in the standard 4x3 size, the stripes on the sides are purple instead of grey. Also we have tried using it on antanae and the colors are the same, so I know it isn't the connection cords coming from the Satellite. Other t.v.s in the house are fine - it's just this one.
Help!! Is it time to chuck the t.v. for a lightweight LCD or is it worth getting fixed? Thanks for your help.
Laura
TV tried to come on but is now dead.....same model and year. Could it be a fuse, HOT, FSB ????TV tried to come on but is now dead.....same model and year. Could it be a fuse, HOT, FSB ????
This past Saturday, the same model TV (TXN3275HF) was working fine. In the afternoon, I turned it on, and it wouldn't power on. I unplugged it many times and tried it on different outlets. Still nothing. I've had mine for 5 years as well.
I called the Samsung customer service line and compained. They generated a VOC (voice of concern?) ticket and said they would contact me in a few days.
Let's see if they will do anything. It will cost me $95 just to have a technician come over to diagnose the problem. Who knows how much more the repair will cost?
I will keep you posted.

Re:
Chuck the TV - probably
It depends on the repair facilities available where you live.
In big urban areas the cost of staffing a repair shop is such it can cost nearly as much per hour just to look at an item is it does to buy the next one-plus you get all the latest features.
Purple picture - it can either be an RGB fault or a chroma defect in the jungle IC. If the greyscale is purple - not true black and white, the RGB has failed, in this case, the G-DR (green drive) RGB amplifier to the CRT (either a diode or transistor or both). You can check for dry solder joints on the CRT base board (it might just be a bad connection - very simple to fix). If the purple caste is within the colour content of the picture, but the greyscale appears correct, then it's a jungle IC chroma issue which can only be repaired by a competent workshop technician. Before I threw the TV away, I opened it up and saw a blown fuse near the power cable connection.
I just replaced the tiny fuse in the same TV. It's a 250-Volt 5-Amps
fuse. Make sure you get this exact fuse. Otherwise, it will blow
again. Now, the TV's working fine.

According to the owner's manual page 2.7 (and this is an OLD [by HDTV standards] set), the TV can only handle input resolutions of 480p or 1080i on the composite inputs. Most HDTV programming today is 720p with some 1080i and 1080p on certain channels (like some Discovery shows about nature). It is possible that your set will not process the 720p signals being sent.
after 4 or 5 yrs EHT ( transformer that supplies voltage to CRT TUBE - TV TUBE ) becomes weak - then 1 of the indication is ...'' grrrrrr '' like noise comes ---no picture , no sound - (in case if picture & audio comes also it won't stay for much time) that noise is from EHT .......so solution is EHT ( also called as flyback transformer ) should be replaced....... {{ few details about EHT---- its size will be around 3inch X 2inch X 2inch ---it will have 2 or 3 knobs to adjust focus , brightness ------ at bottom around 10 pins will be there ------- from EHT 1 thick red colour cable goes to CRT TUBE --------- on EHT its part number will be there }} -------- so if user is a technical person having idea about components ( resistors, transistors, diodes, etc ) , having tools like multimeter ( to check components) , soldering iron, soldering lead, flux, desoldering wig ( for removing components), etc also little experience in servicing field( compulsory) ----------------- then user can remove EHT from main board ---- take to electronic shop ----- buy same type EHT --------- fix to mainboard ( knobs on EHT should be adjusted according to picture --- after switching TV --- this adjustment is very important ) ----------iam from bangalore (09986222774, [email protected]) ----- here EHT's price will be around Rs 250 ( US $ 6 ) & for my customers (in bangalore) i will take another Rs 500 (US $ 11) as sevice charge......i don't have any idea about EHT ' s price & service charge in your place.........since it is very risky job i suggest to contact TV service engineer ------- because they are highly experienced & can fix this component very easily. ------------ [[ sometimes along with EHT another component called transistor ( big in size - situated close to EHT - it will have 3pins - its size will be 1inch X 1/2 inch X 1/2 cm --approximately ---- black in colour ----- fixed to aluminium metal ) --- will also gets deffective --- so this component also should be checked ]]

Have it check by a repairman.
