SOURCE: Is there a starter solenoid on a 1998 subaru impreza outback?

first the starter solenoid mostly attached on the starter motor , but sometimes it could be inside the starter motor . the clicking sound you hear is that the solenoid dont recieve enough power to close the contacts . that could happen because a dead battery , red batery red cable ( + ) dameged or not tighted enough . this link will help you http://www.samarins.com/glossary/starter.html if this helped you pls vote for me

2005 Altima won't start, hear clicking sound coming from fuse box,key stuck in ingintion, won;t turn over, tried to jump start.

the clicking that you hear is coming from the starter relay. sounds like your ignition starter switch or ignition lock cylinder is bad.

2004 Nissan Altima won't start hear clicking sound with a jump start it's start to run again. few day after same problem when turn off the key stuck?

Hi, I would surmise by your description that you have an intermittent fault with the solenoid on the starter motor. The clicking sound is the solenoid trying to engage when power is applied to it.

The cheapest solution is usually to fit a re-built str mtr, or if you have the services, have your own unit rebuilt.

Please don't just replace the solenoid, it's a false economy, no matter how well intentioned!

Let me know the outcome.

Good luck.

My nissan altima is having trouble starting. Is the problem the alternator or the starter?

Check your battery for a full charge. You can do this by turning on the headlight and seeing if they are bright. If not then charge your battery. If so then you probably have the solenoid on the starter going out and will need to have the starter / solenoid assembly replaced.
Hope this helps!

My 1995 nissan altima wont start, it has power but wont do anything when you turn the key. What could be the problem?

I am assuming that the starter will not crank over when you turn the key.It sounds like the starter solenoid is toast.Get a meter and see if there is power to the solenoid when you turn the key.It will be the smaller gauge wire .If you have power to the solenoid and you get no cranking then you will have to replace the starter(they are one unit)

When i try to start my car it just ticks..

the problem is in the starter solenoid, the heavy battery contacts are burned, they almost always bench test ok, replace the starter solenoid and the problem will be fixed. You can just replace the contacts, ebay is a good choice, about 10 bucks. see picture below of typical contact set.b97b38f.jpg

Check your wiring going to your starter if they all seem to be connected properly then you most likely have a starter problem. You would then have to replace your starter. The solenoid on your starter is probably done.

Check your starter. It could be that or the starter solenoid, or the ignition relay. Also check to see if the battery cable is connected tight to the starter.

I have Manual Nissan Altima 1997. It does not crank.

If you can hear the starter solenoid click, when you turn the key to start, then check that the large positive wire going to the starter solenoid from the battery has a good contact at each end. If you don't hear the solenoid click, then check that the small wire going to the starter solenoid has a good contact and power.

The starter solenoid (must buy complete starter) -or-
The cable from the battery to the solenoid needs replacing or the connections need cleaning
If you are handy, the starter can be rmoved without too much work and exchanged for a rebuilt/remanufactured one
