How can I get MS Vista to detect the printer as USB device?
I had the same problem with a different model of the HP 4-in-1 not being compatible with Windows Vista. I went on the HP website, entered the HP model # (be sure to put exactly what it says on the Unit itself) and they will provide you with a compatible download for Vista. Good Luck.
I had the same problem my new dell wouldn't recognize my printer and its on a network had to print through my wifes computer i Reloaded windows vista got rid of all the dell **** and now its fine.see if your printer is set for default in control panel under printers see if you have usb ports in the control panel under devices. if the usb 's aren't dected the drivers are gone in the machine use the cd that came with your computerfor usb drivers you might have to do alittle configuring . vista is no walk in the park.

thanks for this - I also reloaded vista but nothing changed. The printer isn't shown in the usb list, but under "IEEE 1284.4 devices"
