I had the same problem just a minute ago. New batteries didnt help. It had been a while i had used my camera. I very carefully scratched the battery connectors with a sharp kitchen knife to get rid of some possible 'corosion'. The camera switched on immediately after.

Hi Most proberly the batery is shot. It wil be fully charged but it does not have "the amps" in this case miliamps to do the job. Pushing out the lens uses alot of the amps "miliamps" and the fact that it can't even rectract the lens back is a sure sign. If possible take the camera to a digital shop and test it with a known good batery!
Hi I had the same problem with my daughters c713. Tried several bateries found out that the camera is specific with its bateries brand. When i put in new ones from kodak itself from my sons camera a c913 the c713 turn on again. Tried a new pack local brand checked them first and voltage was ok but didn´t work again. Back in those from kodak and ok again. Tried philips also ok.
So try different brand and find out. Good luck.

Try removing the batteries and memory card. Let the camera set for awhile. Put the batteries back in but not the memory card, restart the camera. Does it work know? If it does, turn the camera off put the memory card back in. Turn the camera on, does it work now? If it doesn't, replace the memory card.
please check if the batteries u used before have leaked any oil inside the camera. this damages the metal strip that shorts and two batteries. if there is no damage then tat portion s safe. the small battery inside battery compartment is for camera date. dont disturb it. after changing new batteries tha camera works for few time and then shuts down means your camera CCD s consuming lot of power. use a camera adapter to confirm that the camera works in normal power atleast. even after this. camera shuts off itself. take it to service centre soon.
