I have a utilitech jet pump in which i have to turn off the power switch and wait ten minute, then turn it back on so it could run the water.

It sounds like you have a leak somewhere. Turn off the valve supplying the water to the house. Wait however long it has been taking the pump to kick on by itself. If it doesn't kick on, wait another ten minutes. If it still doesn't kick on, turn the valve back on and wait to see if pump runs by itself. If it does, you have a leak somewhere. If this is not the case, your problem may be a bad expansion tank or pressure switch. Good luck!.

Put a vacuum gauge on the suction, see if it goes real low after pumping a couple of gallons. If so, your point may be stopped up. A 1/2 hp pump should pump 40/50 psi, fill a 5 gal bucket in a minute or so.

Look on the id plate on the motor, and inside the cover on the back and inside the switch cover.

Check for something stopping up supply to the pump, or allowing air into the pump.

for the pump to lose pressure there has to be a leak somewhere please check and make sure you have a one way valve on the bottom of your jet pump that will not allow the water to run back into the well

Yes, if the plumbing can handle the extra pressure. There should be a nut in the middle of a large spring inside the pressure switch. Turn that nut clockwise to increase the pressure. You may need to run some water to keep the pump cycling while you do this.

the pump is controlled by the storage tanks pressure switch , if it continues to run well after the pressure tank has refilled with water , either the switches manual override has been activated (lever) or its defective or blocked off with mud

The water pressure is adjusted with the pressure switch, which turns the pump on and off. The pressure switch is typically set for a cut-in and cut-out pressure of 20-40 psi, or 30-50 psi. Usually there are adjustment directions on the inside of the switch cover. But, there are several other factors that may affect the house pressure. If there is a pressure tank that is pre-charged, the tank pressure may need to be reset, or the tank bladder may be ruptured. Have the entire system checked out.

You should be able to replace the housing if you contact the manufacturer.
