The most common issue here in the old sets is bad solder connections--the problem is you have to get the entire chassis free and up so bottom of boards face rear of set---look to power supply---a lot of 2 and 3 lead parts there from heat come loose from the boards and also to the middle of the set on the middle board.

If you are not able to attempt this the set is too old for a shop repair in my view as many parts for it are no longer available.

May be power supply related (old capacitors),dry joints on the main board or dry joints in the video amp section. Check for loose or bad connections. Good luck,JUS004

You definitely have bad solder grounds. I have repaired a few of these. You will need a TV tech pull the boards out and resolder them. The worst board would be the one on the left [signal board, has rca jacks. rf connector]. And they may as well solder the second board. You will have a restored TV when completed. Is it hooked up with HDMI cable?

If so try unplugging the HDMI cable and re plugging the cable in, sometimes those cables work loose and if they are not tight, it will cause your screen to flicker. Happens to my TV once in awhile.

Mitsubishi VS50707 - picture went out while TV was on. Sound still works. if i turn it off for awhile then back on, all three color tubes come on and flicker together for awhile before going out again....

The most common failure is the convergence IC's for what you are describing. They are large black flat-pack items mounted on aluminum, finned heatsinks. They will have numbers on them like STK392-110 or STK392-120. Yours may be different but most start with STK392-___. There may be some resistors that overheated and failed,... they are usually mounted near the IC's. They will be darkened towards the middle area. Google "Mitsubishi convergence repair kit" and you'll find suppliers who will sell you what you need , quite often with complete instructions. Mitsubishi VS-55609 distorted Picture Flickers

This is a convergence problem and not really a DIY Many amateurs try it to save money but end up spending more on it than a professional. There are dozens on here that managed to fix it for a day or two only to have it fail again.

cost of fix about $300.
