Camera screen says "Lens Error" and pictures are blurry

I am currently experiencing problems with my Casio EX-Z700. The camera will sometimes make a clicking noise when powering on. If it does turn on, it will only take blurry pictures. When I try to focus the lens (zooming in and out), the blurriness increases and the screen will read "Lens Error".

I hope someone out there can help! I have had trouble with the lens in the past, but the camera is no longer under manufacture warranty.

Thanks so much for your time and assistance.

Hello

The problem is that the lens has become stuck in the barrel. There are some DIY solutions you could try, but the probability is that you will have to get it fixed by a professional.

Use these at own risk as it may further damage the camera.

Firstly , try connecting your ac adapter or usb cable.

Try holding the shutter button while switching on the camera.

Look at the lens , and if some of the lens 'circles' is misaligned or not concentric then try wiggling it (while holding camera lens down).

Try gently pushing or pulling the lens when it extends but this is risky as it may cause the lens barrel to slip out of its guidance system.

Another way to do this is to place the camera lens down on a hard surface and then power it up. Be sure to use a soft cloth or something similar as to not scratch your lens or casing. Let the lens push the camera up and down a few times and sometimes the little resistance provided by the camera is enough to get things going again.

Try hitting your camera near the lens on the body with the soft tissue on the palm of your hand.

Other than that , I would take the camera to a repair center for a evaluation to see if it would cost more to repair than to replace the camera.

If it is still under warranty I would suggest you take it in before trying any of these steps and remove any off-brand batteries or accessories as some stores are really fussy about warranty repairs on camera's with non-brand accessories.

You can also have a look at THIS link.

Hope the advise is useful. please do not hesitate to let me know if you need any further assistance.

Regards
Andrea

Normally changing the battery solves this.Make sure you replace it with a good quality new battery and make sure it goes in the right way around as when you get in a flap it often ends up in the wrong way!

Blurry pictures

IF YOUR PICTURES ARE BLURRY IN THE LCD, THEN YOU MOST LIKELY DO HAVE A PROBLEM. WAS THIS CAMERA BOUGHT ON AN AUCTION OR SECOND HAND, THAT YOU ARE NOT SURE IF IT WAS DROPPED? IF IT WAS DROPPED, IT MAYBE REPAIRABLE, BUT REPAIRS ARE USUALLY EXPENSIVE AND SOMETMES IT'S BETTER TO INVEST IN A NEWER CAMERA. SORRY, BUT I DON'T WANT YOU SHOCKED BY REPAIR ESTIMATES. FROM WHAT I HAVE BEEN ABLE TO FIND OUT, THE REPAIR COST WILL EXCEED THE COST OF THE CAMERA. SORRY. SO, CHECK THE LCD AND IF THE PICTURE THERE IS ALSO BLURRY, THE CAMERA PROBABLY HAS BEEN DROPPED AND OCCURRED SHOCK DAMAGE . IF THE LENS WAS OUT WHEN IT WAS DROPPED, YOU MIGHT TRY TO GENTLY PULL ON THE LENS WITH THE CAMERA ON. THIS SOMETIMES WILL ALIGN THE LENS AGAIN. HOPE THIS HELPS. IF YOU NEED MORE HELP, REPLY TO ARCLIGHT1217. IT THIS WAS HELPFUL, PLEASE RATE!
THANKS!

Lens Problem

Hi Kento,

Thanks for accurate description, the problem is cristal clear.

As often happens the lens had been damaged by the shock.

All you can do is trying gently to push the lens inside with your finger while turning camera on and off.

This will probably not work, as lens gears are bent and damaged.

The whole lens barrel must be taken apart and remounted. Probably some part need replacement.

If it is still under guaranty it wont be easy get this kind of repair covered, only way to cover it is if the camera came like this in package, I don't think you can get away with it.

Casio EX-Z700 was dropped in sand. When camera is turned on lens makes a grating sound and the moniter screen is cloudy. It originally said lens error, but no longer says anything.

Hello, I'm Mark Faith from the states. I purchased the CASIO EX-Z700 series.
However, I accidentally dropped the camera when the camera was on and the lens was extended.
It makes a grating sound, and the monitor screen said "Lens error".

Now, the camera is turned off with its lens extended.
When I see the lens from the top, the lens position is more concentrated to the right, and the gaps between each lens is bigger on the left hand side of the lens.

I sincerely hope this would help you to analyze the lens situation.
I'll be patiently waiting for a list of solutions.
Thanks.

If the photo shoot out show white , the obscure (quality variation), and even horizontal line ( white lines), and so on over-exposure cases, even if the use of anti-tremor, set to default values are invalid, because the camera shutter fault.

Can't repair by yourself.
It's need repair camera machine shutter.

I have a Casio EX 260, not the EX-S600

Try resetting camera. If that doesn't work more than likely there is a lens error. 800-706-2534 and keep choosing option 2 and they will tell you where to send it.
