TV shuts off with high color images . Example: explosions,bright lights etc
My ws 55809 shuts off when there's an image that has too much bright colors,like explosions,bright lights etc. i can't watch movies with very bright color scenes.
When i got the T.V It had a Problem that it shut down, when i checked it the flyback Transformer ( i think its called that) the one that gives power to another three smaller ones, Broken and i replace it. Then it worked good for some time but then it started to shut down with the high colors problems. Normally, the screen control being up a little to high, would cause this problem.
If no one has worked on this unit when it started may be a sign of something else, for example, the 200 volt line may be running a little low.
Check the brightness and contrast for starters and if that doesn't help, then, the screen control would be my next step.

It appears as though your convergance chips need to be replaced. If you can handle a soldering iron and are good an soldering, then you can handle this repair.
Go to this web site, and look up the kit for your tv. Your model numer is most likely going to start with WS. It can be found on the back of your TV, in the same area where all the connection ports are.
Have to call DTV and find out if it is worth it. My rear projection TV was built in August 2002. It works very well and with the "digital" image that comes with the provider reception is very good.
Here's something that might also be useful. After you turn on the set, and get the regular red blinky lights, hold down the Device and Menu buttons together for about 5 seconds.
The Power light will start to flash in a two digit sequence.
For example, 3 flashes, then 7 flashes = 37.
Here are the error codes, and the corresponding problem:
12 = No error detected, check power supply.
32 = Lamp Cover is open.
33 = Air filter cover is open.
34 = Lamp abnormality
36 = Light Engine (DMD or Lamp Fan stopped)
37 = Exhaust or Lamp Ballast Fan stopped
38 = Lamp Temperature High
39 = DMD Temperature High
41 = Short is detected
44 = DVI cable between FMT and Engine disconnected
