The unit is 5 yrs old with average use, has a salt generator attached. some corrosion has appeared; a few electric parts have been replaced but it was running well there after; lots of condensation flowing out of tray but also there is some moisture on heater bottom and around heater on floor; its in a pool house; the latest trouble sign is there is light brown liquid that has left drips of liquid here and there and the new ignitor that was installed

yes you can replace the core but you should check all the other components to be sure the chlorine hasn,t destroyed them.

SOURCE: low pressure reading on Pool Heater

I had this problem with ours last year. I replaced the water pressure switch and it began working fine. We later had a symptom that the blower would start but it would not ignite. The ignitor rod was corroded so I took it out and sanded it with some sandpaper---worked fine...until I dropped it trying to reinstall and it broke. Bought a new one and it works fine now.

Today's problem is related to the blower now.... it is always something, isn't it?!?

SOURCE: Aqualink Chlorine Generator not producing any chlorine

It shounds like that you might have a mustard algae issue. It feeds on chlorine. It is possible that your unit is producing chlorine but the algae is consuming it as fast as it can be made. You will need to do a shock treatment and use an Algae 30. It could be something else, but this is likely. You can google mustard algate treatments and read up on it to see if you have other symptoms.

SOURCE: pool controls act as if not getting power- bad control board?

Thank you for posting your question here on Fixya.com.

I would suggest you hire a local pool heater technician to diagnose the problem for you. Any decent tech can ID the problem and likely have it fixed in an hour or so and it could be something as simple as a blown transformer which with parts and labor would be under $200; far less than a control board and a fraction of the cost of a new unit. Questions to ask a potential tech would be how much an hour? Is there a service call or travel fee? Do you carry replacement parts on your truck or stock them nearby? How long do you guarantee your work?

If this answer does not fix your problem, please comment with additional details prior to rating the answer. Positive feedback is appreciated once your problem is solved!

I have a 22 x 52 intex pool and need to know how much salt to add for the first time

the equipment should specify the parts per million of salt required, just google your make and model for information, then take the volume of water(22 x 52 x average depth) and multiply by the required salt concentration. then divide by the bag weight to get the number of bags required. Get some spare bags, but start with a few less than calculated, this enables fine tuning as you test the water a few times

Does the salt system affect my pool pump?

Over time it will attack the motor, yes. There are pumps especially designed for salt water pools, with 316 stainless steel parts, and an open section in the casing between impeller housing and motor casing, and seals on either side with a flinger on the shaft. Eventually though the salt will get to the motor somehow. Mind you we are talking years. On my salt water pool, now 23 yrs old, it is on its 3rd motor, which is about 5 yrs old.

We have an Intex above ground pool that takes salt and converts to chlorine. We filled it about a month ago and all was fine for a few weeks, then in the past week the water began turning green. We have...

Intex chlorine generators are very low output generators that fail very often. There is a reason they are so cheap. They do not work well. When using a chlorine generator, it is important to test manually for salts and free available chlorine on a daily basis. Just adding salt because you have a generator will not make your pool manage itself. In order to get the most basic chemistry under control, you need to test for alkalinity, calcium, pH, and free available chlorine.

If you do not have the ability to test these things, spend $10 on a 7 in one test strip that will give you this information.

Note: Chlorine generators have more negative aspects to them than positive. There is not a cost savings as advertised with these units. It actually costs more money, and takes more time to care for. The salt is very corrosive to the pump and filter system as well as the pool itself. The long-time cost would be cheaper to run a chlorine or bromine pool.

Code 91

If you have hard water in your location you may want to try cleaning the electrolytic plate. I had the same issue where no matter how much salt was added I had code 91. I shut the water down going through the filter / generator. Pulled the outlet hose off and put on a cap. Pulled copper cell out and filled chamber with vinegar. Put cell back in and let set for 1 hour. Fluhed it out and hooked everything back up. Nop more salt problems. The process is in the book.

I am not an expert on the Duoclear but I have had mine for 5 years and have not had any problems. This unit and all salt water systems will not generate chlorine when the water temperature is below 65 degrees f. I am not saying that this is why yours is not generating chlorine, just commenting in case you were unaware.

If the engine is running but no output from the plugs....the VERY common problem is loss of magnetism in the generator after storage.
With the generator off.........
Look at the side of the generator part.....do you see a small + and - on any terminals?
You may have to take a cover off.
Take a 9 volt battery and momentarily put current from this small battery through these terminals.
Now.....start her up and check for power at the plugs.
This fixes 75% of "no output" after being "stored" generators.

Fuel gage does not work at all. What steps would

Man, I love this car when they first came out. Friend of mine had one with turbo with Lotus suspension/handling. Being 1988 would not surprised me if the AUTOMETER FUEL LEVEL SENDING UNIT is bad, it does not matter if its has only 10k miles because of the year. The car is 21 year old and very seldom any electrical system that sit in the chemicals or petroleum that long will last without developing any corrosion or rust. Keep in mind, being 21 years old car with only 60k miles, is telling me its has been sitting for a long time without being driven. Your Isuzu should have 252k miles if it had been driven 12k per year although it average 2800 miles per year. I have seen a 5 year old gas tank that has been left sitting half empty, it has so much rust and corrosion in the tank you would not believed because of moister. This is a true fact, If better to leave the gas tank completely full or completely empty sitting and will have less chance developing corrosion. First, Check all fuses to make sure you getting power to the gages. The only way to test the unit is to test the unit itself. There is plastic connector on top of the tank you can test by unplugging the connector and using the 12v light tester to see if you getting power from main source. My sense tells me the AUTOMETER FUEL LEVEL SENDING UNIT is bad and need replacing. It will cost you 38 bucks auto parts warehouse.com, very easy to replace. If you have plans to keep that car, I would get your self Hayne's auto repair books for 20buck to keep for the next repair. Great book will teaches you alot about the car and the heart of it. Good luck, hope this help some

The laser is failing. It's called "digital drop-out". A replacement laser runs around $60, but you're better off just replacing the unit.
