I looked at the solutions and I have done as suggested by copying the files from my computer. They show but they don't play on the MP3. What am I missing?

You probably need to sync your mp3 player rather than copying and pasting songs into it as if it were a hard drive. Use a media program to do this; the chances are one of these was bundled with your computer operating system.
Plug in your mp3 player.
Remove the files you put on it.
Open the media program and make sure it has all your songs and albums on it. Sometimes you have to open extra files within the media program to get all of your music.
In the "Sync" feature of the media program, place all the files you want to have on your mp3 player. Usually this is "drag and drop" where you drag the music you want to an area labeled "sync."
Hit "Sync"
Your mp3 player should now be able to play your music!
Enjoy.
MP3 players can only play music files in mp3 file format.
You can download mp3 music files onto your computer and then copy them to your MP3 player.
For CD disks you need to convert your CDs to mp3 music files onto yourcomputer or download them from the Internet and then copy them to your MP3player. You can do this using Windows Media player and Rip the CDs - Media Player willcreate a MP3 music file for each music track. Hi klvogel1, I had the same problem, only I have Windows XP. Here's how I solved it. Connect you device to your computer, go to my computer and find the new device (should be under F drive) open the file and the open the" Audio" folder. This is the folder you will download to. Open your Windows Media Player then open your Music file, High lite any song or all songs, right click, and open up file location YOU CAN NOT SYNC TO THE DEVICE, you must copy and paste or cut and paste to the Audio folder of the device NOT THE MUSIC FOLDER. This will work, it took me since Dec 27 to get this answer. Hope it works for you
I had the same problem. The solution for me was that the files on my computer hard drive were set to play on the realplayer format. Once I changed the format to play on the windows media format, it started saving to the Emo. I hope this helps you.
THE SONGS CANNOT BE SAVED AS A WHOLE FOLDER, ALSO YOU CANNOT SYNC MUSIC TO IT. HERE IS THE SOLUTION; FOLLOW CLOSELY AND YOUR EMATIC 4GB PLAYER WILL FOR SURE WORK.
1) LOCATE YOUR PLAYERS FILE FOLDERS 2) OPEN THE AUDIO FOLDER 3) LOCATE THE SONGS YOU WANT ADDED 4) RIGHT CLICK THE SONGS YOU WANT (ONE AT A TIME ) 5) SCROLL DOWN TO COPY, LEFT CLICK ON COPY TO COPY THAT SONG 6) GO BACK TO YOUR AUDIO FOLDER 7) RIGHT CLICK IN THE AUDIO FOLDER 8) SCROLL DOWN TO PASTE, LEFT CLICK ON PASTE
YOU SHOULD SEE YOUR SELECTED SONGS APPEAR. IF YOU FOLLOW THESE DIRECTION YOU ARE FOR SURE TO BE LISTENING TO MUSIC.
YES IT IS A LONG PROCESS, BUT ITS WORTH IT IN THE END!! BESIDES ITS NOT A HI-TECH GADGET. WE BOUGHT IT AT A STEAL, SO LETS DO WHAT WE GOTTA DO TO MAKE THE BEST OF IT!! OVERALL ITS A GREAT PRODUCT.

To add files (SYNC) to your mp3 player using Windows Media Player 10:
most likely it requires windows media player version 10 or higher which unfortunately is not compatible with windows 98 so that way will not work. You may be able to bypass windows media player by going to the manufactuers website and downloading a specialized driver for windows 98 and then drag and dropping your music onto the pkayer if this doesn't work I am sorry
Instead of dragging the songs directly to the player, use windows Media Player to transfer the songs instead - erase all of the ones that you have dragged on to the player first before proceeeding.
The instructions in these pages, which are largely links, pertain to Windows Media Player 10 and 11 only.

By default the device is in MPT mode. In this mode you need to use media player or rhapsody or Samsung's own media software to transfer files. You need to have the music on your laptop. Once on the laptop you can edit the details - name, artist, etc to whatever you like. You can then drag it onto the player and it will keep those settings. remember to delete the files with the details you don;t want from the player
Go into my computer you will see yp-k3 device in the listing. You can edit the names directly this way but you cant move them to a folder.
