2003 Yumbo Dakar 200 Motorcycle

We bought above enduro, having electrical charging problems. We replaced the battery and it still won't hold a charge. Battery is good, holds a load. Starter is okay. I drive it for 30 minutes, shut it off, won't start again, have to kick start. We can't find a service manual or wiring diagram for this. Any advice? Thank you, Ron

My yumbo had this problem as well. with the cover off on the side with the battery you will see what looks like a small amplifier with a white plug going into the top of it. i simply took mine off (1 bolt at the base of it) and cleaned it up especially the ground wire under the bolt you loosen. also try and clean up the plug and connections. before you start riding again give the battery a trickle charge with a 2amp 12v battery charger. if this doesn't do it try tracing the ground wire from the battery to the frame and make sure it is good and clean; you can also find another good spot on the frame to ground it. give it a shot and i hope it works out, j

Hi and welcome to FixYa,

Interesting, could not find any service information either. And have not had the chance to work on one.

In any case, your post "Any advice?", since battery is new, then there would only be 2 possibilities (aside from the fuse & wiring):
voltage regulator; and/or
stator windings.
The voltage regulator as the name implies regulate the voltage coming from the stator/alternator. It also converts the AC into DC to charge the battery and supply the electrical requirement of the bike when the engine is running. Most voltage regulators would look like the image below.

The stator windings are the coil inside where the magneto spins inside either. It is the alternator of the bike and produces the AC voltage that supplies the regulator. A stator would look like the image below. The red coil of copper wires.

Good luck and Thank you for using FixYa.

Idicators have stoped working on yeben 50cc scooter

Hi,
1. Check weather the bulb got fused out or not
2. If not, then check weather all other accessories like horn are working good. If not, the main connection to battery may have problem.
3. Near the battrey check for any wire worn out or there may be some fuse provided for your sidelight. check and replace them if worn out.
I hope this is helpful to you

Yumbo wont start

• The first thing to do with ANY engine that has sat for any longer than a couple of months is to dump ALL the fuel in the tank and carb(s). ALL OF IT !! You'll want to refill with some high priced fuel that has fuel system cleaners (Like Chevron with Techron) not becasue you need high-test fuel, but because you need the cleaners. It's ether that or disassemble the carbs and clean out jets you can't find much less see. Your choice. The carb kits alone will cost you about $50 so a tank of high-test is looking pretty good, huh?

• Now the fact that you tried to crank the engine with old fuel has fouled the sparkplugs. Go buy a new sparkplug.

• If your bike has a vacuum fuel valve, then you'll also need to set the valve to "Prime".

I noticed sparks coming from the exhaust of my Ford 500. It has under 30,000 miles & i had an oil change a few days ago.

Welcom to fixit.com your 2004 Yumbo Dakar 200 Motorcycle has sparks comming from ehaust.... it could be metal from your engine,I know it sounds dumb but did you check the oil, make sure they put it back in, or it could just be you spark arrester starting to fall apart. Hope this helps !
