Optical pick up out of tolerance. If you take disc out it should stop clicking. The clicking is the optical pick up lens hitting max extension due to focus not being achieved
There are two different methods for attaching the DVD to a TV.
If the TV has the red and white audio jacks and the yellow video jack, then you just plug them in and then set your TV to use the alternate video input. There should be a button to cycle through the video choices on the remote or menu.

If you do not have any alternate audio and video jacks on the TV, only then do you need to buy an RF modulator and plug that into the antenna in of the TV, and select channel 3 or 4.

Here is a better description, with diagrams:

http://trutech.supportsync.com/article.aspx?id=1005

make sure you have the rca jack from the dvd player to the tv yellow is VIDEO while red and white is audio(doesnt matter on a small tv set like that for audio) if only one audio jack then just use the white one
You can watch the TV programs with the tuner of the unit. (Usually channel 3 or 4 of the TV is available for the RF converter setting.) Be sure to connect the unit to a TV using the RF cable. 1 Select channel 3 on your TV. 2 Press [VIDEO/TV] on the remote control. • If noise appears, change the RF output channel of the unit to CH 4 by pressing [VIDEO/TV] for 3 seconds. The RF output channel will alternate between CH3 and CH4
We also don't have a remote. We hooked a DVD/VCR combo to the Samsung combo by attaching the cable from the cable line to the DVD player and an additional cable from DVD to TV and it used to work but after we lost the control, the DVD can only be listened to but not seen. The VHS from the DVD player works perfectly though.
When we had the remote (before connecting the other combo) we used line-in to see a DVD or VHS using the yellow red and white cables from the Samsung to the other player.
