Quite often on the compact models, the solution is to pull the control panel assembly off, remove the circuit board and clean the surfaces shown in the photo with high-grade alcohol.

That would include the back of the LCD glass and both sides of the rubber strip.

    Sharp Microwave on "Lock" and

The Child Lock prevents unwanted oven operation such as by small children. The oven can be set so that the control panel is deactivated or locked. To set, touch CLOCK, the number 1 pad and then touch the START pad and hold for 3 seconds. Should a pad be touched, will appear in the display. To cancel, touch CLOCK, the number 1 and STOP/CLEAR pads

No numbered touch pad for use setting clock

I think on this one you press the CLOCK/TIMER pad, then enter the desired time using the 10 MINUTES, 1 MINUTE, AND 15 SECONDS pads then press CLOCK/TIMER again.

If that doesn;t work, press STOP / CLEAR then try the above again.

Let us know if it does not work.

Unlocking child lock on the sharp microwave model R316FSC

The Sharp Microwave/Convection oven I have says to touch the Custom Help button, the number "1", then touch the Start Button. To turn off the child lock, press the Stop button.
Or just unplug it, wait 1 minute, and plug in.

    My microwave sharp 220hw 8oowatt

After snubbing the darned thing overnight, plug it back it to see if it has recovered. These things do have primitive computers and we all know how reliable those things are- It may just have 'crashed,' just like seemingly all others.

    Problem with the display

I've checked, and cannot seem to find online service data on this model. Perhaps it's too new.

But it sounds like you have one which has the glass LCD and keypad connected to the circuit board via a zebra strip type "rubber connector". This is what you referred to as the "black and white small foam like pad". It is called the rubber connector.

It's similar to the model shown in the attached exploded view and it shows you what to clean.

If cleaning doesn't work, you need to order the LCD glass and the rubber connector.

You will probably have to call Tritronics with your model number to get these parts. They are toll-free at 866-779-5835.

Sharp Carousel Convection Oven. Model R-9H54.touch pad

It depends on what you mean by "a problem with the touch pad assembly".

If some or all keys do not respond, you would probably need a new keypad, but the key units for all Sharp R-9H-series models have been unavailable for a few years now.

These units did indeed last a long time.

Sorry I can't bring better news.
