Help! My flash isn't working!

I have been having this problem with my flash recently where it will not work. I can take pictures without the flash, but the resolution is blurry. Does anyone know how to fix this problem? A little flash icon will blink in the upper left side of the screen, and the top indicator blinks orange next to the view finder.

1 The flash- with the camera shut down take the batteries out. leave an hour. put them back in. Now - switch on and go to flash mode. Hold the camera to your ear.Can you hear a slight hgih pitched whine? This is the capacitor charging up. If you did not hear it then the flash unit is dead. But to be sure- read the manual and make sure you have set it up and operating it correctly. Blurry picture are something else[possibly] Check that you have not inadvertantly got the camera set to MACRO mode[this may also affect the flash inability. A good reread of the manual will do little harm and check out all those controls again.

Canon sd900

Try a higher ISO speed (suggest 400). Look in your camera's instruction book to find out how to do this.

Canon550 flash problem

having the same problem, although after about a year of having it. i've come to the conclusion that the flash itself is broken, if you shake the camera you'll hear something moving around (at least that's my case) and i'm supposing it's similar to a burnt light bulb kinda thing. so the solution would probably be to send the camera to canon itself or find someone who can replace the flash (and buy one as well). I can't do either because I live out of the US =(
