CD player idicates all disks "bad"

Mechanicly everything seems to work - but any CD or DVD (even directly from Blockbusters) had a "Bad Disk" error after being inserted. I cleaned the lens of the DVD drive, but no help. Any suggestions to fix or to get a new DVD drive for this unit would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

I did open the unit and clean the lens - but as I said, this did not help. I'd appreciate any other thoughts, or a source to get a replacement dvd player component, which I could simply swap out. Thank you.

Anyone on here have any experience with the nova fidelity X12 cd ripper and network media server and player? It’s working but when ripping cds it comes up with read errors however plays cds no bother,...

I guess you meant ripping store bought CDDA, ;discs. right>?
compact disk-Digital Audio, disks as see in WALFart. music department. right?
first off CD players can skip error playing CDDA will try to play even with scratches, and the data is repeated if you read the spec, on CDDA, but a scratch that is long in the direction of the spin
that will be BAD DATA! and if you rip a CD , it will not like scratches at all. this is COMMON.
Hint bad disks don't rip.

you have 5 choices. (I think I got them all)
A new CDDA disk, with no scratches., duh factor 1:
B: have the disk professional polished, (yes this is a service)
C: try a new CD DISK DRIVE, in your PC, some work better with scratches, or buy a portable CD/DVD USB player it may work better.

D: try a 2nd PC for same reasons of C:

E: try other ripping APPS< some may work better with scratched CDs./? many are free, costs zero to try.

I AM HAVING ERROR EACH TIME I TRY TO PLAY A CD.

When your CD does not read any disk, and returns error, that is usually because of a problem with the optical laser lens that is dirty, faulty or opaque, or a faulty spindle motor unit.

If it is a lens problem, then you will hear disk spinning, whirring and clicking, but the TOC (table of content track at start of CD/DVD will not be read, therefore the error.

Whe this problem is starting you may be able to read only few CD, DVD. After more prolonged usage , the unit will start losing the rest of functions, and ends up not reading anything at all, and returning error.

If instead there is no noise, and disk does not spin at all , then there is a faulty motor, or the motor micro-switch is bad. This situation is far less common than the lens problem.

Try first using a CD/DVD cleaner disk to clean the lens. If that does not work you will need to disassemble the player , and clean lens directly with q tips and isopropyl alcohol, or to replace the lens, or the whole drive unit.

Dvd player always says no disc . will not load

That happens because of a problem with the optical laser lens that is dirty, faulty or opaque, and will start operating on certain disks better than others.

I have a 2004 ext cadi and bought a 6 changer cd player. when I place a cd in it shows no disk what gives? radio works, changer light up

hi, hate to be the bringer of bad news but, it seems to be a dead lens you are experiencing. The no disk error basically means that the lens sensor isn't active and it responds as if the disk was not inserted even if it is. replacing the lens will fix this issue.

DVD will not finalize

Bad Disk batch is the most common problem if it is occuring with the same batch of dvds. Other problems could include that you need to get a firmware upgrade for higher speed discs. If you are using a disc that burns faster than the current speed of the machine you need to download the upgrade (follow the directions that are given in most dvd blank packs) and insert the CD that you downlaoded the program onto into the DVD player/recorder.
