OKLAY SO I GOT DIS CAMERA FOR MA BIRTHDAY.....AND IT WASNT BRAND NEW. AND ITS WORKED FINE UP UNTILL A COUPLE OF DAYS AGO....NOW IT JUST WONT TURN ON..! I GOT NEW DORICELL BATTERIES AND EVEYTHING BUT IT WONT TURN ON..! BUT YOU KNOW THOSE 2 GREEN LIGHTS ABOVE THA SCREEN AND RIGHT NEXT TO THA LITTLE PART YOU SEE IN..? WHENEVER I TRY TO TURN THA CAMERA ON THAT BLINKS AND THATS IT..! WHATS WRONG WIT MA CAMERA..?!
My camera is doing the same thing, but my problem started by my taking pictures in a ususal fashion and getting a 'Change the Batteries" message and the battery indicator indeed showed a low battery at the time...Ofcourse, i milked the batteries for all they were worth and it died on me...I purchased new batteries, Energizer Max...and the bottom green light just winked at me once and the camera did not power on. So, ofcouse I tried this 20 more times. I flipped the batteries, cleaned the terminals, anything I could think of, and chaulked it up to bum batteries (..never my camera!...). So, i slipped to the store and bought some Duracell fancy-smancy high performace batteries. Rushed home, slipped them in the camera...same thing. The camera winked that bottom green light - but, no power. What in the world? To think just days prior I was snapping pics left and right!! It wasn't dropped or mishandled! It happened right in my own hands...it started with a "Change the Batteries" message...something I've seen more times that I can guestimate! Can anyone help??My camera is doing the same thing, but my problem started by my taking pictures in a ususal fashion and getting a 'Change the Batteries" message and the battery indicator indeed showed a low battery at the time...Ofcourse, i milked the batteries for all they were worth and it died on me...I purchased new batteries, Energizer Max...and the bottom green light just winked at me once and the camera did not power on. Its broke Baby Girl, its broke.
As it is not new you will not get much joy from Canon - though you could look up their web site and tell the tale to Technical Support.
I tell you this because if it is more than year old - nobody is going to mend it.
But if its a model that had a problem- they might - just might swap it for another one.
You can only ask.

frist chack your batteries may be you batteries are not charged frist time you have to charge minimum 6 hrs. if you batteries are rechargeble then chak what is the MAH if you r camera is taking morethen 600 MAH then it will not work u have to go for more then 1200 MAH
Try getting new trusted brand batteries like duracell, And also if it forces you to change the D/T just change it. Also try getting a new memory card. (trusted brand). If none of this works then there might be a prob. Maybe someone dropped it. Try asking the company 2.
I have a 1991 nissan primera 4wd, I have been fixing it up for a couple of months and i went and took it for a test drive the other day, that was when i realised my speedo wasnt working at all, it wasnt lighting up when i turned on my lights and the needle wasnt moving but the taco and everything else on the dash is working perfectly fine. How do i fix it?
I bought this model several months ago and it was working great up until Christmas time. For some reason it just stopped working. I couldn't get it to turn on OR sometimes it would turn on after several attempts. I kept changing the batteries and sometimes that would work, but it was more or less random successes. I found this link on FixYa :
http://wwwuk.kodak.com/global/en/service/batteries/batteryDigCamChart.jhtml?camera=C813 I was using generic batteries (Philips) which I bought in bulk from a discount tech store and these batteries were working in the camera since I bought it. The batteries were new; just generic. By coincidence I ended up buying KODAK branded alkaline batteries from the same store. I replaced the older generic ones with the KODAK batteries and the camera came back to life! I'll leave it off for a day and see if it turns on tomorrow.
