I would go to control panel, bring up devices, and attempt to rollback driver, reboot and test. If this did not work, verify there are not two drivers assigned to port - open device manager again off System, then check device drivers. if two - remove the second one. If still does not work remove all drivers, uninstall all software through the add/remove programs, remove device, install software, plug in device, then reboot again.
In order to install your media player, you need to remove norton. The disk does not have a trojan virus in it. This is a common warning for Norton and it says the same thing for TurboTax software if you try and install the desktop version.
Go to your control panel and find programs & installations. Then remove both parts of norton antivirus software and reboot your pc.
Make sure you remove live updates and both parts of the anti virus software or you will be wasting your time.
Then try and install your drivers for the media player. Once installed, reboot your pc again and reinstall Norton if you wish to keep it as your choice for anti virus software.

Please press F8 several times during startup. When you get screen asking you to choose what you want to do please choose Safe Mode. Then you need to get to System Restore console you do this by going. Start----> All Programs-----> Accessories---->System Tools-----> Sytem Restore
Choose the date when your PC was last working properly and click Next Next Yes. This should restore your Computer to previous state. Good Luck
