Please help! 15 mins ago the playback was working fine and now - everything is blue. I can still see the icons for rewind, play, FF, etc. Besides that, nothing. Any suggestions?? I have a huge project that I am working on and I can't believe this is happening now... Thank you for your help.

The head may be dirty, clean it by using a cleaning cassete, maybe its playing but can not produce a clear picture, not able to produce a clear picture would automatically change the display to blue.

Sony DCR-TRV510 Playback Blank or Choppy

I recently had similar problem. Sony Phone tech support was very helpful. The answers were strange. You need to make sure the cameral is turned off, unpluged and take the battery out for at least 5 minutes. (something to do with reseting firmware). That sort of worked when coupled with there last comment which was to RECORD about 15 seconds and play it back. Mine was instantly healed!

Cannot view playback!!!!

First thing to determine is if your (Playback Mode) is set for Auto or Hi 8 / 8. Select VTR setting and then select Menu. Scroll to PB Mode and select Auto. Now try playback.

Hi8 Playback Problem

Clean the tape heads and see if that makes a difference.  If that doesn't work, it could be the tape motor is going out.  Thats typical behavior when that happens.

Playback problems started suddenly

I had the same problem. I fixed it by gently dropping the camcorder on the carpeted floor. I know it sounds silly, but it really works. I've had to do it twice, and it worked both times. I hope it works for you.

Playback won't work

needs to be cleaned and possibly tension adjustments. most cases this will fit it but the video heads could need replacing.
