My kids told me the TV was making strange noises like dragging nails down a chalk board and then just turned off. I took a look and tried restarting but I cannot get the Power button to stay on and I get the 2 or 3 clicks each time but TV refuses to turn on.

Your set have gone into shutdown,it will try 3 time to correct itself then shut down you might all have different faults. call your local shop and ask for an est, cost to repair ,it may not be all that bad news. depending on your chassis type there different quick fixes to save money and time ,when you post your sets always say what chassis also./st

Vizio TV wont turn on after three weeks no use

My vizio recently did the same exact thing. Vizio sent an HDTV tech out to fix it and it was the power board. He put a new board in (took 15 min) and the tv works like new.

Samsung plasma

just to be sure, plug something else into the same wall socket to make sure you have power there. If you have power at the wall and the TV has a detachable power cord, try the TV power cord in your computer to see if it works. Otherwise you probably have a faulty power supply in the TV.
