I have had my scanner for a little longer then a week and it was fine for a little while but for most of the week it has been giving me the same problem. everytime I press the book pilot, the program will open, the scanner will warm up to 100% but the scanner will not scan the immage and a error message apears on the screen saying that Utility.exe has encountered a problem and needs to close. The program wont open again unless I restart the computer. I called the main technical support(plustek)number three times, got help but the problem is still not solved. I left a message for plsutek support to call me back yesterday and they didnt. I called them to day and they said they would call back, they never did. hopfully someone here will solve my problem. Plustek told me that I had to many immage devices on the computer and that is why my scanner would not work. I disabled and completly uninstalled my brother printer(fax/printer/scanner)and my logitech camera so the only immage device on my computer was the optic book scanner. I then reinstalled the book scanner and it still did the same thing. I also tried disabling my firwall and antivirus, then tried scanning but it wouldnt work. I updated everyting from the plustek website but even that wouldnt work. please tell me what is wrong with my scanner and how to fix it.
Various things[as usual] can affect the performance of a USB device, so check these out. 1.Too many USB device hooked up drawing power from the system - So if it is not in use -unplug it. 2. The driver and or software for the device has corrupted.- Re install 3.Too many programs of a similar nature [graphics in this case] running and confusing resources.- shut down those not in immediate use. Do check the Plustek website for the latest driver[s] A Golden Rule for clean and simple computing is if you are not using it - shut it down. Come back with this one let us all know how it goes.

Neither is it a prob with the computer nor with the scanner.
Let me guess,
either is your usb connection cable longer than 2m or you have connected the usb printer/scanner cable to a usb hub.
Do use a cable no longer than a max of 3m and do connect the usb cable directly to the computer usb slot.
