Shutter won't work

The shutter on my camera will not work. Everything else on the camera works fine. I was taking pictures without any problems and it just stopped all of the sudden. Did not drop or bang at all. I've changed the batteries, downloaded all pictures and changed the memory card. Nothing helps! Any suggestions????

Depend on how old it is - still under warranty- send it back Contact makers Website in case there is an issue that warrants a replacement out side of warranty Failing that buy the next one- a repair shop is not a likely place for a sensible price for a repair.

Pictures are dark

First, check if you're taking the lens cap off. If you're taking it off, then check your exposure. See if your light meter responds to changes in illumination. If everything seems fine, then check if the aperture of the lens works as intended. Then, without a lens nor film in bulb mode, check for the mirror and shutter to work properly. If the light meter, aperture, mirror or shutter seem to flaw, then get your camera serviced by an experienced camera repair technician.

Shutter-release button doesn't work

The manual only can give two reasons why the camera would not take pictures.
One, there is no memory card placed.
Two, the memory card is full.
You are sure you have placed a working empty memory card.
If you did save all the pictures on the memory card to a computer, try formatting the card in the camera.
When you are pressing the shutter release button half, does the camera say it is focused correct? light bottom corner of the display.
Your camera has a setting to take pictures with a remote control. Did you put the camera in that setting? Read page 76 of the manual.

I have a Kodak Easyshare model dx5430 digital camera (5mp). It has worked like a champ for years. Last night I was at an event when the image display went dark at picture 31. All preceding photos were able...

A stuck shutter is another common failure mode for digital cameras. The symptoms of a stuck or "sticky" shutter are very similar to CCD image sensor failure. The camera may take black pictures (for shutter stuck closed), or the pictures may be very bright and overexposed, especially when taken outdoors (for shutter stuck open). To confirm a stuck shutter, put the camera in any mode other than "Auto", and turn the flash OFF (you don't want to blind yourself for the next step). Next look down the lens and take a picture. You should see a tiny flicker in the center of the lens as the shutter opens and closes. If no movement is seen, then you likely have a stuck shutter. If so, please see this link for further info and a simple fix that may help.

Canon powershot A80 camera. LCD display works fine but no picture. Camera will take pictures but no display and nothing but black appears on download. Everything else works fine. I think it is the lense?

Sounds like the CCD or the Shutter are not working. Canon only sells the CCD as part of the optical unit, which includes the shutter. However the new optical unit will require reprogramming of the main pcb to focus correctly

D50 won't take a picture!

I was having the same problem.. And since I could not afford to take it to the shop, I tried everything I could think of...
Then I fixed it!!
It seems that the slide door behind the shutter was stuck for some reason... If you remove the lens.. (make sure the camera is in manual mode)... snap a shot so the shutter is up.. then gently slide the panel in the back down....
Once I did that.. the camera was working again.... Hope this easy solution works for you guys....
