Question about GE Profile Spectra JGBP90 Gas Kitchen Range

1 Answer

I recently did a self clean. Now I have a beeping F7 error code.

Now everytime the oven has power going to it - it beeps, then goes away for about a minute, then beeps again, a vicious annoying cycle. In this mode, I cannot seem to use any of the other stove or oven functions, including clock, bake, broil or self clean. I hit the buttons and nothing happens. The only button responding is the Clear/Off button which make the beep go away for a little while. (I cannot do the power off for minute #8+Cooking Time+Delay Start for diags either.) One thing I have noticed since the self-clean cycle, is that the touchpad display looks a little warped, almost as though it was heated. My questions: Is this a touchpad/keypad issue or a control board/ERC issue? Also, if it is either of these, can I replace these myself without causing further damage. I am a repair tech for computers, printers, and A/V equipment, so I do know how to handle ribbin cables, circuit boards and how to properly seat connectors. I see a few screws on the back of the unit that will probably give me access to the keypad assembly. I don't want to touch anything though until I get some sort of guidance from someone more experienced.

In order to rectify this problem you wold have to replace the clock/control unit. But as you say that you are tech.try this on the back panel of the clock there is generally 4 wires, basically the clock unit is just a switch.there will be 2 of these wires the same colour connected tto a small rectangular object known as relay, with the mains power turned off disconnect these wires from the board and connect them together.this will stop the noise and the use of the clock but will allow the use of the oven. good luck.

My oven is constantly beeping asked so self clean. I just self cleaned 3 days ago when it beeped. Now is is contantly asking to self clean again. How do I stop this?

Oven keeps beeping:
As there is no reprogramming of most control boards try this, disconnect the power and wait 30 seconds and then reconnecting the power.

If it's an "F1" fault code this generally implies an electronic oven control (EOC) failure. Disconnect the power, wait 30 seconds or longer and then reapply power. If "F1" returns upon power-up, replace the electronic oven control.
The oven control can be accessed and replaced from the rear of the control panel.

NOTE:Disconnect the power cord from the power source before removing the panel from behind the console.
If its an F2 ERROR CODE, The F2 error indicates an open circuit in the oven temperature probe.

Your range has a resettable thermostat in series with the oven temperature probe. If this thermostat opens the clock will display F2 and the oven won't heat.
You can reset the thermostat by pushing in the reset button on top of the thermostat.
Some ovens have an alarm that will beep continuously every six seconds to alert you that the oven is still on. Usually, a kitchen timer that you have set will cause the beeping, but occasionally it can be an error with the oven's settings. If it is the kitchen timer, you can simply push the "Kitchen Timer On/Off" button to end the continuous beeping. If that does not stop the beeping, it is probably beeping due to an error. You can turn the continuous beeping off but you may still need to troubleshoot the issue that is causing the beeping noise.

HI. This is the result of a failed function key. This is an integrated part of the main control board. Unfortunately, this is not repairable, and the main control board will need to be replaced, asap.

Hi

You don't say what type of GE oven this is so I will advise the following;

On a GE range oven F7 indicates either a function pad button is stuck or the clock on the oven is malfunctioning

On the 99 Range oven F7 indicates a shorted Clear/Off Key due to membrane switch or a shorted control or connector

On the GE XL44 Self Clean Oven F7 is Stuck keypad or control relay malfunction

Hope this helps. Please remember to rate my answer. Thank you.

F7 error code

f-7 means either the touch pad is stuck or a relay on the control board is stuck. if the code came up while the oven was not being used then the touch pad is shorted. if it came up while in use then the controlboard is bad
