My Sony Handycam Digital 8 has been working fine. I haven't used it for a few months and when I used it the other day - it seems to be recording fine. When I try to play the video back it is not working. It is rewinding and forwarding fine and when it is in play mode you can see the tape is moving fine. In the viewfinder it is not counting and there is only a blue sreen. It is the same why if I try to view on my TV. Any suggestions?

I don't remember where I read it, but somewhere like this site. Just as you start the play back, give your camera a bump with the heal of your hand. This has worked a couple times, and the issue seems to be with just the metal tapes. My husband was a bit appalled until it worked. It might not solve the issue long term, but I was wanting to recover baby footage so I wanted to just get it done.
