After approx 8 months, strange, funnel shaped vertical shadow started to appear on the right side of screen. This shadow gradually became larger and now measures nearly 4 inchines on the top of the funnel to approx 1 in on bottom. 2 wavy vertical llines are beginning to appear near the center of the screen. They reach from top to bottom. A small 3 inch in diameter circle shadow is beginning to appear on lower part of screen between tornado and wavy lines.
Try moving a medium powered magnet (not one for picking up heavy objects and not a refrigerator holding one) over the distorted area. If that doesn't work, try a more powerful one. This worked for my Toshiba LCD. Good luck!

The only way might solved this problem,to replaced the Tuner Signal board. If the board is replaced have same problem, then ur tv have some kind of dead pixels burns in.Tries Shopjimmy.com,Ebay.com for the board part.
if its remote control try pressing no 1 and see if it comes on.alternatively the on and off switch if faulty on th tv,but the remote control should still switch it on.also switch off the tv for 24 hours by completely removing it from the mains and see if that resets it.

Do the smudges move around or are they in the same position all the time??If they appear in the same position it sounds like you are having a problem with the invertor panel or the back light circuitry. If you could post photo of fault would be helpfull
