I have inadvertently activated the child lock on this TV and the only way I can turn it on now is by the remote.(it just shuts down after 6 secs)
To compound matters I do not have a remote. I have tried several universal remotes and cannot get the TV to power on.
I just bought a new remote from polaroid ($30++) but it won't turn it on either.
Is there any other way to reset the memory on this TV?
I have the same problem, but I have a remote. I have tried everything and nothing works. When I try to type in the factory set password under parent lock, which is all zeros, it immediately turns the television to channel zero! We didn't set this, it just started happening. The manual for this model LCD 2000, is worthless! I called the company and they too were worthless! The call goes to another company for some reason and they have the same manual that I do. Any help would be appreciated!

you can program most universal remotes to work the tv and menu the child lock is activated on the tv and the buttons will not work only power button will work as long as it has not been set to not work when made. some are set this way. but a remote with the right code set will turn on the tv.
Go to menu on your or set up on your remote control. then, look from the features that says child lock .Use the arrows to move to another feature. If the child lock is turned on, click turn off by using the arrows.
The Child Lock feature prevents unauthorized viewing of the TV. To activate, press and hold the F key, and
then press MUTE. You should see a key symbol appear on the screen. This will lock out all remote functions
(except for Standby). To unlock the TV, press and hold the F key and press MUTE. This will unlock the TV.
Please note that the only way to activate or deactivate the Child Lock feature is via remote control - please
insure that it is stored securely.
1.check the batteries are properly installed with correct polarity.(+ and -)
2.Check weather correct remote operating is set.(TV,VCR etc)
If both are OK then please programm your remote again with the TV.As you removed your battries it might reset the code
When using buttons on TV it says CHILD LOCK is ON.
Child lock fuction is to prevent children operating buttons in TV console. This can be set only by remote. Cannot set by TV console Buttons. If this fuction is activated you cannot use the TV console buttons.
The power button on the TV doesn't work because of the child lock?
I went over the copy of your manual for your TV. It must be the child lock timer problem.
I would try leaving the TV unplugged for 30 mins and see if that reset the TV and releases the lock.
If it doesn't work, the remote needs to be replaced. A universal remotes aren't really universal when you need to use special buttons. The remote made for the TV is the best.
If your TV is the model 47PFL7403D, here's the cheapest place to buy a replacement. http://www.philips.newremotecontrol.com/catalog_item.php?catnum=313922852812
Unfortunately the Child Lock facility disables the buttons on the TV.
You should be able to get a replacement remote control from an authorised Philips dealer, or you could try a universal remote control form most electrical retailers. Philips make a range of universal remote controls.
Instructions for activating and de-activating the child lock are in the manual. If you don't have the manual, download it here:
