Re:
Depend on what you have in your system already.
If your are replacing and existing drive simply remove it, and replace on the same IDE cable making sure the jumper is set to slave.
Assuming you have one drive to the 0-IDE connector and the other connector is is to existing CD
and this new drive is to be a second one.
You will need another IDE ribbon cable.
Set the drive to Master- connect the cale.
position and fix the drive and plug the other end on the cable to the second IDE connector [Drive 01]
See you mother board manual - connected a spere power connector.

Hi, In order to watch either DVD or VHS on your TV ,you need to make the following connections ..
You need to connect "DVD Player / VCR Combo" to" TV " as (Audio/video output
of DVD Player / VCR Combo -TO- Audio/Video input of TV) ..
use either "RCA analog (red/white +yellow ) " or "SCART "or
"Optic " cable.(any standard optical cable )...if exist ,optic is the best way to
connect it..Remember your DVD Player / VCR Combo 's "OUT" goes into" IN "of the TV ..
pls also
remember, wherever you connect your DVD Player / VCR Combo on your TV ,you should switch
the source selector accordingly to correspond to the connection on the
back...
Hope this helps!..if more help requires pls let me know. Take care and please Remember to rate/vote and give me 4 Thumbs Up for me to continue for Helping out the Community :)

This issue is common to CD/DVD-ROMs. To fix this issue, visit my technical page at reyfrancisbasa2.blogspot.com for a graphical step-by-step instruction.
1.control panel->system->hardware->DEVICE MANAGER
2.uninstall your driver
3.restart you computer
4.on tray icon a balloon come with a MSG of 'found new hardware'
5.click on it
6.select your driver from it .then select suitable option
if you still have problem buy a you op(win xp,vista,7..).using that disk repair you computer
If you do not have a disk with drivers go to the manufacturers web site and look for support or downloads to get the divers. save them to a folder you create on the c drive or go the driversone.com and put the info of your drive in and it will direct you to drivers then save them to the folder. Next you go to system icon in contol panel and then to hardware then device manager. look for cd/dvd drives and choose your drive then right click on it either disable it or reinstall the driver. If this helps please reply as this helps me continue to answer questions here and good luck
I will presume that you do not have a combo DVD.
If you have a "combo" drive, it doesn't burn any DVDs.
First, has the burner ever burned dual-layer DVD's successfully?
Radio Shack has a laser cleaner ($13). Read & follow the directions. It is an audio CD with a row of brushes. No chemicals involved.
Recommendation:
Use Verbatim DVD's, they are the best. Samsung is also a top brand.
You need to find what DVD reading and CD and also DVD burning software you had, then download versions of the programs compatible with Win 98--then they should work fine. Your CD/DVD drives will be ignored until you get the correct burning software installed. Go t Samsung, which hopefully will have the appropriate downloads for Win98. If Samsung no longer has what you need, find any software for Win98 such as Roxio, or hopefully freeware, and you should be back in business.
