I was given this TV without the instrucion booklet for the remote. Did work when it was first set up but now I can't even get it to come on. Are there instruction manuals out there that can give me a clue if it's broken and needs repair or I've just got an issue with the remote misprogramed. I do know the kids messed with it, figures....thanks much
No the timer circuit would not prevent the Tv from coming on there is logically something else preventing that... The unit is equipped with a shutdown circuit that monitors voltages and prevent it powering up if a certain condition, like a short, is present. Could be the horizontal output transistor is shorted and the shutdown would prevent any B+ from that circuit to prevent a fire. Could be simply that the regulator is shorted and one of the voltages is missing. It's REALLY difficult when the only condition a tech has is that it's dead, or won't power up...
A Mits is a good Tv - really well built. But any good Tv from that era was meant to last about ten years. So when you factor this in your calculations it might just be time to get a new one..
My best suggestion is to take it to a local reputable technician for an estimate. That usually costs something but not an arm and a leg. Then based on what s/he says the problem is and what it will cost to fix it decide whether it's worth it or to replace it with a new Tv...

It is the remote is a Mtsubishi that came with TV. And it did work, I've replaced the batteries twice but now can't get it to turn on.
By the way the TV won't even turn on at the front.
Do you think the "timer" would have anything to do with this? Just a thought, but I dont know how to clear that either.
Thanks for your help. JV
Thanks for your help,Sincerely, Janet
If the Tv won't turn on from the Tv power button then the remote is not the problem... You can try unpluging the Tv for a couple of minutes and after plugging it back in try to turn it on using the power button on the front of the Tv... If that doesn't work either you'll need to do some testing yourself or have a technician do it, to determine what the failure is in the Tv...

Is it a Mits remote? Does the Tv turn off and on using the controls on the face of the Tv??
