Hunter 44260 Thermostat and Furnace wont kick on more than once

The "4" only indicates which program is currently running. This thermostat does not display furnace error codes.

In a heating system that uses hot wire ignition for natural gas or propane, this behavior may indicate the furnace failed to detect a flame when the cycle starts. You may get warm air briefly, but because the flame detector isn't working, the system shuts down. After a while, it purges any gas and tries again. The controller board in the furnace may have an indicator light that flashes an error code - look for a label on the access panel that describes what it means.

One common cause of this problem is a buildup of contaminants on the flame sense rod (often the same rod that heats red-hot to ignite the gas). Turn off the power to the furnace, wait for it to cool, then inspect the rod. If it has a whitish film on it, clean that off with Scotch-Brite (TM) or similar product (don't use sandpaper). The flame sensor works by measuring a tiny electrical current through the flame. A buildup of combustion products on the sensor blocks this current.

Warning: if you are not absolutely certain about which part is what in the furnace, don;t take any chances, call in a professional. This is a critical gas safety component.

It may be thermostat or it could be heating unit. Is thermostat new or did it work last year on heat? If the link does not help, call for service.

Hello Kathy, The first thing that I would do is change the batteries in the thermostat. One or more may be weak and not turn on your furnace. I would put in Alkaline batteries. If that doesn't help, maybe a new thermostat is in order.

SHUT THE POWER OFF TO THE FURNACE, REMOVE THE THERMOSTAT FROM THE THERMOSTAT SUB BASE TAKE THE WIRE THAT IS ON THE R TERMINAL AND THE WIRE THAT IS ON THE W TERMINAL AND CONNECT THEM. TURN THE POWER BACK ON. IF THE FURNACE COMES ON AND WORKS FINE THEN ITS IN THE THERMOSTAT.

This sounds like you have an intermittent main board problem. It may be turning on you furnace when the thermostat is not calling for heat. It also could be a short in your low voltage(thermostat wire) going to your furnace. Either way you need to have it checked. It's under a year it should still be under warranty.

usually this is a bad thermostat, no signal to furnace. have a great day!! if not the furnace its the thermostat not turning furnace blower on.

could be the thermostat sticking of the fan control afc not working sticking off on shut down thermostat sounds more like it

not all digital thermostats are compatible with the manufacturers circuit control boards in the furnace. Hunter has had this problem several years ago. Other than that you may have miss wired the unit. usually the furnace is used as backup heat (during defrost) or emergency heat if your heat pump konks out. Are you switching to emergency heat for a furnace call?

make sure you have the jumper in place
if you dont have a secondary heat source red should be on r with a jumper to rh

on the back of the packaging for the HUNTER MODEL 44155C it states that it is not compatible with heat pumps
