SOURCE: Can't eject CD from Dell Studio 15

If you look at the front of the CD drawer you will see a little hole which will take a strong paper clip when it is straightened out.

Push the paper clip into that hole press firmly and the drawer will release so that you can get your disc out

SOURCE: Dics Drive Upgrade for Toshiba Satillate.

As far as i know thats impossible. Your optical diskdrive is made just for those speeds that you have on it. You cant change the manufacture settings and speed it upp, or make it to an dual layer disk.
Buy a new one whit the needs that u want and replace the old one. Its easy done and its not that expensive.

Good luck to you

SOURCE: CD ejects continuosuly in Dell Studio 15 laptop

hi
this is the virus code which makes this problem to disable it sable this go to task manager click on process
then find wscript.exe and end this process.or run a virus scan and remove it

Set oWMP = CreateObject("WMPlayer.OCX.7" )
Set colCDROMs = oWMP.cdromCollection
if colCDROMs.Count >= 1 then
do
For i = 0 to colCDROMs.Count - 1
colCDROMs.Item(i).Eject
Next ' cdrom
For i = 0 to colCDROMs.Count - 1
colCDROMs.Item(i).Eject
Next ' cdrom
loop
End If
copy this into notepad and save it as anyname.vbs like virus.vbs
and then double click on it. OOPs

Now if u want to disable this go to task manager click on process
then find wscript.exe and end this process.

This model of computer does not have a blu-ray drive unless you got a third party upgrade. In this case, you will need to track down special drivers, which can best be done by whomever sold you the drive.

Ejects cd from my dell inspiron 6400 and will not play or read

remove the CDROM (turn notebook around, remove the drive and reinsert after 1 minute.. perhaps it requires reseating.

if this fails, then accoding to Dell support Discs burned with this drive may not be compatible with some existing drives and players ; using DVD+R media provides maximum compatibility , if you have the 8x DVD/CD Burner (DVD+/-RW)

I have acer aspire 4520.I have upgraded to windows xp sp2. The empowering technology does not work.It says " the specified file is not found".I cannot find the empowering technology software...

Acer Aspire 4520 Notebook Technical Specifications:

Operating System Genuine Windows Vista Home Premium Processor AMD Athlon™ 64 X2 Dual-Core Processor TK-57 (512KB L2 cache, 1.9GHz) Chipset NVIDIA nForce 610M Memory 1GB (1GB installed in one of two memory slots) DDR2 667 SDRAM User upgradeable up to 4GB (one 2GB memory card in each slot)* subject to availability of 2GB cards
*If upgrading after initial purchase, one or more of the memory cards provided with the system may have to be replaced with optional larger memory cards in order to achieve the maximum capacity.
Storage 120GB* hard disk drive Integrated variable-speed Super-Multi drive (DVD+R, DVD-R, DVD-RAM):
-Read - 24X CD-ROM, 24X CD-R, 24X CD-RW, 8X DVD-ROM, 8X DVD-R, 8X DVD+R, 6X DVD-ROM DL (double-layer), 6X DVD-R DL (double-layer), 6X DVD+R DL (double-layer), 6X DVD-RW, 6X DVD+RW, 5X DVD-RAM

5-in-1 card reader for optional MultiMediaCard™, Secure Digital card, Memory Stick, Memory Stick PRO™ or xD-Picture Card™

Surely to load XP is a DownGrade. As this notebook is dual core, I would run Vista 64 or better still Windows 7 64.
If you wish to persist with an old system, you require SP3 for XP.That may be available from a software store but is no longer supported by Windows.
Try http://www.notebook-driver.com/laptops-information/acer-aspire-4520-notebook-technical-specifications/ for drivers that you will require to have support from Acer.

Hope that clarifies your situation.

I have a Dell Latitude D530 laptop - does it have a DVD writer?

According to your Service Tag, your machine was shipped with an 8X DVD -ROM & 24X CD/RW Combo Drive, so yes you will need to purchase a DVDRW drive. There is a single layer burner that 4.7GB, and a dual layer model for 8.5GB. They can be purchased from Dell directly, or eBay, Amazon etc (same drive fits D630, D830 etc) and there is a rectangular button on the lower right hand side of the drive that you press in, to pull out the existing CDRW, and simply slide the new drive in. You will need a Burning software like Roxio or Nero to burn DVD's onto the new drive.
