My 930 had this issue when I first used it. You need to activate that feature in preferences before it will speak street names- follow this tutorial

How do I enable spoken street name aloud on my GPS, XL 330-S, as on the speech preference screen this option shows light. Please advise. Thanks.

Not all sound files speak out the street names. If you want, street names spoken, you need to select a voice that ends with computer. For example, the voice file selection: Simon, English UK, Computer will speak street names. But the voice file, Bonnie, English US, will not speak Street names. Dave, English US, computer will give you street names but Lori or Mandy, English US will not. Procedure to get the street names spoken: Tap on main screen. Tap on change preferences. Tap on arrow. Tap on change voices. Tap (select) a voice that ends with computer. Tap select. Tap done till you reach the main screen.

I have a tomtom xl 325 se special edition bonus

There are two voices (male/female) that say "computer voice" by them. You have to select one of these voices to access text-speech for street names.

Where can downloads of computer voices for the xl330s be found?

Go HERE and download tomtom home, it will give you the options for all available voices for your unit.

just run the tomtomt home after you download it, once the programa is running, hook up your tomtom via the usb cable to your computer that was supplied with your tomtom and click on the add voices tab and follow the directions.

Not talking

Connect it to your computer, get your free updates and add the available voices. You have to enable the voices on the Tom Tom after you load them in. I have a Tom Tom One. It's accurate to within 12 feet.

Cannot get spoken street names

I have the TomTom XL V2 UK, ROI & Europe and it doesn't speak the street names, if that's what you mean.
Presumably your model is the same.
Check the specifications to see if 'Text to speech' is supported.
If not, it won't say the names.

Will not speak street names

The One XL will not speak street names, but the One XL-S will. Text-to-Speech is the main difference between the two models.

Not speeking street names

go to the:

1-change preferences
2-change voice

than you need to select female voice but it might be female computer voice! Because only female computer voice can speak street names.

Speaking the names of major streets

It will only tell you the names of the streets if you use the COMPUTER voice. The other voices will not announce street names. So go to your voice selection and pick the computer voice...either male or female.

Text-to-Speech Not Working in New Unit

You found it. You must have a voice with TTS (Text-to-Speech) next to it. This is what speaks out the street names.

WON'T SPEAK STREET NAMES

Greetings Seecar,
I had the same problem with the TomTom One. What you need to do is this:
When you select a voice preference you have to use a "computer" voice as it seems the "human" voice cannot pronounce the street names. I don't know if your model has the same choices but mine is set to "Samantha, English US"
Hope this helps
