sorry...it seem like your dvd/vhs player is outdated...(do the rw disc plays in pc?) are you using Nero software? this will curve the problem...or try another DVD RW brand that funai is compatible with...dvd players, dvd recorder and pc dvd burners do roll back...all must be a year or less apart to work with each other....
Are you trying to record a VHS tape to DVD? This won't work if the VHS tape is a commercial (disney, dreamwords, etc) because of an analog copy protection scheme known as Macrovision.
If you are trying to record, say, a broadcast signal and it will record to VHS and HDD, but the DVD errors out, then either the DVD drive is bad, or you have the incorrect type of recordable DVD in the player...
If you press the dubbing menu button on the remote it brings up your options so you can copy vhs to the hard drive , it will show you a list on your tv ,vhs-dvd. vhs-hdd which is what you want. Then click speed you want and start dubbing.
Best guess...put audio cd into DVD side, Video tape into VHS side. Set the VHS to record in SP, Then record the cd to vhs. then when you are done recording on the vhs, put a blank DVD in the recorder side, and press dubb to DVD to get it to record from vhs to Dvd.
