I have a Maytag Double oven/stove. When I try to ignite ONE PARTICULAR burner, I get no spark. When I use ANY other burner to ignite it, ALL the burners spark....So, only one dial does not produce a spark. HELP!!!
Clean the burner with a wire brush around where the ignitor is. it needs a proper ground to ignite. When you turn the burner on do you hear a click click click? If so this should solve the problem.
you probably have a bad ignitor i would replac e the ignitor that should solve the problem
yes it is normal for all of the burners to spark. bbut only the dial that you are turning is letting the gas out. so only that burner will ignite when you turn the knob to ignite.
the ignitor is the thing that sparks so what you have to do is take all the caps off of the cooktop. usually they are torque screws sometimes difficult to remove i usually poor some water on them and let them set for a minute. then i remove them. Depending on your modle some of the caps twist of. make sure you turn your poweer off. verify if there are torque screws or no screws
If you have the twist off kind yyou can access the ignitor very easy. you will see the wire that goes to the ignitor. you just have to take that off and i believe there is one screw. then the ignitor comes right off.
If you have the kind with the torque screws you have to take all burner caps off and pop the lid up to access the ignitor
oh it does spark i thought it did not. so
is there gas comeing out of the orfice when you turn to light?
when you turn the dial that is not working do you here a click or no clicking sound just gas comeing out?
since you know that the ignitor is good it is a possible bad spark modual or switch that sit on that individuall gas valve
I would say more likly a bad spark modual
depends on the model sometimes the spark modual is in the back of the unit usually it is a dark orange color. trace the wires that go to that ignitor to spark modual and see if therre is 120 volts getting to it if so then you know thats your problem. usually i check from one leg to groundd ofr nutral if you can find a nuetral. some models have there own seperate modual for each ignitor usually they are blue. it looks like a square box
if you do not have 120 volts. then you have a bad switch that sits on the valve itself its white and has 2 wires going to it ususally a red and a black.
turn the gas off first when doing this check. because you have to turn the switch on first. when checking the module.
also if you can swap one of the ignitor switches with another that is a good way of eliminating the valve switch.
I hope this was helpful.
sorry i ment to say valve switch not ignitor switch

It ignites from any of the dials except one. When I turn the dial for the ONE burner...nothing happens but gas comes out. When I turn ANY other dial....ALL the burners spark. The problem is that I am having problems getting ONE dial to spark. All others spark. (BTW, when you turn ANY dial...ALL burners spark. That is normal)
Where is the ignitor located and how do I get to it? (I imagine it is under the dial...just not sure how to get to it).
Sam
SO it sounds like the ignitor for that dial. How do I change it?
When I tale off the caps, there are two phillip screws to take off the thing that the flame come out of. the metal sparker (ignitor) does not lift out. Also, why would the ignito light/spark using a different knob? That makes me wonder if it is the ignitor or not. It does spark when I use a different knob.
Yes...It sparks with 4 out of 5 dials. 1 dial (the one that goes to that burner) does not make it spark. That's my problem. I have 1 dial that does not make the burner spark. I can light it by turning the dial on, then turning a second dial on to make it spark. What do you think it is?
yes.
That is correct. No clicks...just gas coming out.
How do I test which one and how do I get to them?
ok. I got the top off. I see a series of wires that runs down each dial. Where is the spark module and how do I test it?
Similar problem here on my MGR6775. I disassembled the cooktop, and discovered that all five ignition switches (the switches are attached to the valve stem to which the knobs are attached) are connected to the same two wires. These two wires switch on/off all five ignitors at the same time.
A spill on my stove shorted out one of my ignitor switches and the switch caught fire. Way to go Maytag. Design a stove that catches file when someone spills soup on it. Really? Really???
I'm having the same issue with my Maytag gas top. It's pretty much a piece of ****. Maytag is milking thier "previous" reputation for quality products.
Same probem; one know does not trigger the ignitors (i.e. no clicking) the other knobs all cause all the ignitors to spark. How do I get that knob to trigger the sparks?
