The turntable system consists of the motor, the coupler, the turntable support with rollers, and the tray.

You can see and hear a video of how a turntable motor should sound when you rotate it by hand.

If yours is not set to be off via the control panel, and it won't rotate or it sounds like it's grinding, etc., you may have a bad motor or plastic coupler.

If you don't have your owner's manual, you can just enter your full model number at the Sears parts site.

A full Sears/Kenmore model number has 3 digits, a dot, then 8 more digits, such as ###.########

On the resulting page, look to the right for the blue "View manuals" button. Click there.

That Sears-related site has many free manuals. While the manuals they list there are all free, they will ask you to register.

Many times, the owner's manual will have the installation instructions inside.

If yours is not listed there for free, you would have to order it through the
Sears parts site.

That's where you could also order any needed parts and find handy exploded parts views.

You need to take it to a Service Centre. They are too dangerous to work on yourself and the case is secured by special security screws. You can check the back to see if there is a screw in, out pull out fuse carrier.

My kenmore elite 721.66462500 has turntable that attempts to turn but it sparked and popped underneath and seems it won't turn. All else works-IS IT SAFE TO USE?? kenmore elite 721.66462500

When platter doesn't turn, food will not cook evenly. The motor must be replaced. No harm will come to the oven if you continue to use it.

How can I keep the turntable from revolving when using a dish that is too large to turn?

Try removing the M/W turntable and placing a shallow bowl upside down centered over the rotating device. Then place your plate on top of the bottom of the bowl. The device will still rotate but will not be in contact with anything.

Kenmore Elite Microwave oven 63792 doesn't heat - all lights, turntable, fan, etc. work just fine.

Most likely it would be a bad magnetron since the light, turntable, and vent fan are running.

Either the coupler or the turntable support is bad.

You can find an exploded view by entering your FULL model number (3 digits, a dot, then 8 digits) here: http://www3.sears.com (the 3 is correct)

Microhood turntable not working

You can find an exploded view of your microwave at http://www3.sears.com (yes, the 3 is there). Ref # 3009 on the drawing is the turntable motor. I would grab it by the shaft and gently try to turn it. If it's locked up or grinding, that's a sign it's bad. It runs $24.49 plus shipping: Part Description: Quantity: Part Number: Model Number: Price: TT MOTOR 6549W1S013D 721.64663300 $ 24.49 $ 24.49 Be sure to unplug the oven before you work on it. Hope this helps!
